He can't shoot, that's an issue (we love guys with no jumper) but outside of that he's amazing. And his defense this year has been extraordinary. IDK how big a role he'll have but I'm ready to see.

you think we are now losing the play-in?

I thought we were winning the play in before this trade. Now I think we won't make it, especially if Mitch can get healthy. Brooklyn is about to start tumbling in the standings as well.

Huh? We make the play in without Hart. Now we miss the play in with him after sending out 3 players who never saw the floor? And you like him as a player? I'm confused. Shouldn't this trade make us deeper and better? How do we get worse? The Nets will drop and we are Fighting MIA for the 5 seed if all goes well.

I’ve always liked Josh Hart so happy to see him finally end up on the Knicks but I don’t like the asset management by this FO. The Reddish trade was a disaster and now we traded another 1st round pick for a role player. Hopefully this isn’t one of those notorious Thibs trades that comes back to haunt the franchise

If they can get a first for Obi then minutes open up. It will be more clear once the deadline passes.

They have to find minutes for him that make the trade worth doing. No way this turns into Cam/DNP-CD or Obi treatment. Thibs most likely wanted this kid for his defense/rebounding and not needing the ball.

Indian expect much and I am not a fan of the pick being ours but, if it helps get us the 5 seed, I'll live with it. Hoping we can sneak into the second Rd to lessen the pain.

This is by position, but the rotations won't be strictly this:

Brunson/IQ
Grimes/Hart
RJ/Hart
Randle/Obi (unless traded - doubtful, they aren't going to use RJ as backup 4)
Mitch/iShart

That's 9. McBride is situational.
MAYBE Thibs goes 10 (he won't) and McBride is in the PG situation. I can't see it. Thibs is on the record stating he likes how subs work with 9 guys.

Thibs would use Sims as the backup four. Thibs doesn't want Obi. Let's end the charade if we can get decent value for him. Those minutes are needed to make sense of this trade IMO.

Or Sims and Deuce disappear again.

We shall see. I really want Thibs fired!

I love Obi but not with Thibs as coach. Obi is uptempo and not a great defender.
For Obi‘s sake I hope we move him, just as with Cam.

I‘ll eat crow if Obi and Cam suck elsewhere but doubt that happens as most coaches play players to their strengths.

Best thing we can do is get a dog mentality guy to back up Randle, unfortunately probably for another first.

This is not a sexy move but it is a good move for the team. Most of you just want names - hell some of you want the knicks to pick up Russ after the buyout. Hart is going to be a great addition a great role player…the FRP is a bit much but it won’t be a lottery pick.

He is going to help this team and he has familiarity with Brunson - Team chemistry is extremely important.

I like Hart A very fiery competitor. Fights for rebounds loose balls. Good defense. Can knock down the 3. Solid role player.

Is he saying $17mil per year? That sounds like a lot.

But why? Josh is that super duper do it all role player. 17million sounds about right....good thing we traded a FRP to make sure we have the honour and right to pay 17mill. for a 8points/6rebounds guard that can't shoot......sounds exactly like something the Knicks and that imbecile Leon Rose would do...

In the offseason:

"The Knicks re-signed Josh Hart to a 3 year/50million contract. Josh will continue to provide great all-around play and help us cement our position as a play-in team as we want to make sure that there is no chance we could ever accidentally slide into a high draft pick and draft a potential superstar player. We are humble people and are very much content in being IN THE DISCUSSION for future star players. Beste regards your fat pig Leon Rose and your alcoholic James Dolan."

Mitch type contract? I Don't want to overpay this guy.

We are going to see a bit of a revolving door around here the next few years. Don't screw up the flexibility with Evan level deals/mistakes. Movable contracts only!

the cost to acquire jhart aint a joke (would have been ok for me if POR took a knicks guy that occupies significant cap) but i would think the organization is banking that as a villanova guy, he will play befitting his paygrade

They committed to mediocrity when they signed Mitchell Robinson to that contract so if they pay Josh Hart that much it won’t come as a surprise

  We replaced Alec Burks on a smaller contract with Josh Hart on a likely bigger future contract and included a first round pick.

Anyone believing in the slightest that this front office has the slightest clue what they are doing is delusional...

5 years from now if you make the effort and look back at this trade and the 2023 draft you will notice this:

At the 15-18th and remaining first round you will find that there were like 6-7 players much more talented and much better than Josh freakin Hart. At that point the people that cheered this trade will realized the foolishness and idiocy of this trade.

Hart was a part of the Portland-New Orleans trade from last season (TJ McCollum).

What was Cam's value? Negative?

I think we could have acquired better assets if we held onto the pick and traded it during draft day.

Most definitely. But we are trying everything we can to get from 40 wins to 41 wins and prevent that first round sweep and make it a 5 game series.

Yeah. That's what I don't like about the trade. We trade out of or backwards in every damn draft. I'm not sure I like this trade at all but, he has to offer more than 3 bench players. The pick worries me though. Was it really worth this pick? Is he even worth the player option he is due? The fact that Cam is going to start for POR, do they know something we don't?

The contract and the pick potential/value make me worry that this is another mistake by the FO. I can't wait to see how they fit him in.

Great move bit it might only be for 3 months.
We should have insisted on the Detroit pick or higher protections on our pick.

Good player who can‘t shoot. Great defender though.

Wait I think you mean the opposite. If you think Brooklyn starts tumbling and Mitch will get healthy isn't it more likely we make the playoffs?

I'm saying we'll make the playoffs outright. 6th seed no play in. Of course that's if Hart's point of attack defense keeps up. I don't see many people scoring on McBride-IQ-Hart that's a torture chamber for anyone on a second unit league wide.
