They play at the 4th quickest pace in the league, and in the halfcourt he's going to have the lane mostly to himself because Turner is popping out. This has the potential to really blow up in our faces.

Keeping Randle while Obi thrives elsewhere will most likely blow up in our faces. Unless we use Randle to get a star. Randle getting stats vs being a better player than Obi has never been proven. Obi never got the chance to prove as much here. That much we know. In extended minutes he always produced. That's not debatable at all.

He may never be able to get 25/10/5 but, those stats have not told the whole story either.

Time will tell. Randle is at his peak. Obi may reach another level that proves to be more helpful to winning.

Well said. And just to add, the idea of trying to mold a high flyer transition player into a corner 3 pt shooter almost seemed like a slap to both management and Obi. Thibs can coach well but ONLY his way. He is terrible at adjusting to a players strengths. He is antiquated in that way but we still can succeed if he gets the players he wants (and doesn‘t run them into the ground.)

I look forward to Obi in the Garden, as I think a majority of Knicks fans do. You know he‘ll get a message through to Thibs, as I think the crowd will (unless we blow them out.)

Yeah fans at the garden should root for the pacers. They even have a player named Benedict.

According to league sources, the Pacers are sending Duarte to the Kings and receiving Dallas' 2028 second-round pick and the Kings' 2030 second-round pick. They are acquiring Toppin from the Knicks in exchange for the least favorable of the Pacers and Suns' 2028 second-round picks as well as the least favorable of the Pacers' and Wizards' 2029 second-round picks.

Wouldnt surprise me if Obi actually requested to be traded to Indiana because its by far the best spot for him, and we called them up being like “just give us some crappy 2nd rounders and Obi is yours. He’s a solid player who we have screwed, and there are no more minutes for him in a contract year, yada yada”.

At the same time, what were people expecting to get for a 25 year old playing 15 mpg who needs a new contract after the season? No matter how good you think he is, we tanked his value and this is the result.

We didn’t do obi any favors. Nobody wanted to pay much for him. That’s all it was.

I hope Obi sucks in Indiana. You can just hear the media now having a field day at our expense. "Playing the best basketball of his life alongside the star guard the Knicks should have drafted." You know that sht is coming the first time he puts up nice numbers

Probably more than we would get for Randle so...we had to trade Obi instead.

If Obi becomes a starting level player.... Thibs needs to be fired.

I know he is already a rotational player in the right offense. Good luck to him.

I am not a Randle fan but, rooting for him to give his all when he's on the court. He's still a Knick so...yeah.

Right? This dude has all the potential in the world now that he's not on the Knicks. Where was that energy about his value when he was here?

Disagree. We literally played Obi the least amount of mpg for any top 10 pick in the last 10 years man. Look it up. You may not think much of him, but our front office knows we f*cked him and probably wanted to help the dude out.

Maybe this was Pacer initiated, since he is a great fit there after all, but it does seem like we worked with Obi to get him to the best opportunity with a full summer and season ahead. Otherwise why trade him now? Could have waited until the trade deadline to get two late 2nd rounders.

For all we know Julius will get hurt this season (he did just have surgery). Obi can step in and hold things down somewhat if that happened, which would raise his value significantly, so unless we think Roby is better it makes little sense to do this at the moment besides doing a favor.

I dont think its asking too much to expect more than protected 2nds for a rotational player.

He’s been on the trading block since the last deadline and there were 28 other teams who could have offered more if they wanted him

Thats cuz they were previously asking for 1sts. I have a hard time believing they couldnt get 1 unprotected 2nd for him.

The trade return sucks, but if we had kept the 12th pick from the Mavs would you give it up for 25 year old Obi or just draft a young player?

I guess if the pacers and suns and pacers and wizards are both the worst two teams in the nba they could be the 32nd pick!
