So if this falls through, will Denver finally give New York a call and try to get business done.

I don't think that but I think Melo could think that the Knicks will make a stronger push if this deal is on the table.

Melo knows if Walsh has made a strong push. I'm sure Amar'e clues him in. It doesn't matter how strong a push Walsh makes if Denver has their fingers in their ears. Melo knows the Knicks are handcuffed. The entire NBA loving world knows the Knicks have been stopped at the gate.

I believe the initial offer was Gallo/Curry/1st Round Pick but Denver laughed at us and said NY doesnt have any offers at all.

Isn't it a little naive to think and Leon are so far apart on philosophies about this?

If Carmelo steps up and says "I am not playing for NJ" behind closed doors than most likely.

Do we know for sure what anyone's philosophy is on this situation? Other than some reporters with sources who always get everything wrong?

the fallout is that once Melo passes word he doesnt want to go to the Nets

He's napping. He doesn't have time to deal with amateurs. When Denver wants to talk, the Godfather will listen.

you talk around offers, no? isnt that how negotiation works, one side offers, other counters? what has donnie offered (EVEN if Den rejected?)

From what I have heard Gallo/Curry/1st Round Pick. After that they just laughed at us saying we have no "assets" and nothing substantial came after that.

It doesn't sound like Melo is communicating with his agents -- he didn't seem clued in AND he seems to want to talk to the Nuggets directly. In other words, he's not really relying on his agents here.

It does seem *possible* that his agents are really acting in a separate sphere, without a lot of consultation with Melo.
