Durant with only 20 points so far with 4 minutes left. Under 24 would be huge for Melo.

If he ends with 20, his average drops to 28.2

Edit 1: 23 points so far now so his average remains at 28.3

That is incredible. He has also taken over double the amount of free throws already over the course of his career. Nash didn't get to the line a whole lot.

yes this is a guard's league. shumpert has all those traits i listed to go along with underrated court vision and passing skills.

they are raw but you see glimpses.

I like Butler as well----extremely good player to have in your rotation. He's like those pesky defenders but he can really shoot as well...he's like early season Ronnie Brewer ---defends very well and knocks down open jumpers and we all saw how big a Ronnie Brewer+a jumpshot was for us early on....and on top of that he seems to have the capability to slash and finish at the rim....Butler definitely looks like a steal....terrific pick for Chicago.

Butler has short arms, he's a glue guy in a loaded starting lineup or a bench player.

The East just became players at the poker table. Derrick Rose (as of 13 hours ago) is "close to a return". Which in my eyes, is excellent news. We need Chicago to stay as the 5th seed (or even 4th seed) because that means Miami could likely face Chicago during the second round, with Derrick Rose going too.

This is only a mock but...

(1) Heat vs. (8) Bucks. Miami wins.
(2) Knicks vs. (7) Celtics. New York wins.
(3) Pacers vs. (6) Atlanta. Indiana wins.
(4) Brooklyn vs. (5) Bulls. Chicago wins.

Which means...
(1) Heat vs. Bulls (5).
(2) Knicks vs. Pacers (3).

Give me Chicago over Miami all day come a (potential) Eastern Conference Finals. And even if Miami advances, you can almost guarantee Chicago fights them hard throughout the entire series.

Now what if Chicago ends up as the 6th seed with our Knicks being the 2nd seed? That could also be good news because....

(1) Miami vs. (8) Milwaukee. Heat win.
(2) New York vs. (7) Boston. Knicks win.
(3) Indiana vs. (6) Chicago. Chicago wins.
(4) Nets vs. (5) Hawks. Brooklyn wins.

Which sets up a...

(1) Miami vs. (6) Chicago.
(2) New York vs. (4) Brooklyn.

Boston and Brooklyn as a possible road to the Eastern Conference finals? Or maybe even Boston and Atlanta (if ATL knocks off Brooklyn) I'd take that in stride while being able to avoid Indiana during the 2nd round (If Chicago were to eliminate Indy with Rose).

Shumpert's ceiling is higher for sure. But right now I think Butler is a better package. Good D and more in his scoring arsenal.

Anyone see Butler's move at the end of the game yesterday? Big shot and it was really a tough one. Up and under in traffic.

Shump's scoring arsenal and level of D are both still limited by his knee not being back to 100%. Gotta keep that in mind with player comparisons. I think Shump at 100% could be just as valuable now that he's shown real consistency from spot ups.

Well that just sucks Donkey Balls. Still miss Gallo. I wanted to see NYC's other two teams, the Rockets and Nuggets play (hopefully each other)

by prospect i assumed you meant ceiling.

right now, without question, butler is the more polished player. but i have faith shumpert will reach his ceiling, he has a great work ethic.

I think it is unfair to judge jimmy butler and iman shumpert careers so far.

Jimmy Butler pretty much has had 1 more season of experience (whole offeseason training camp and a bunch of regular season games this year.

There season averages are very similar. Butlers #'s have seen a big increase recently to the bulls injuries. He has been playing high 30's and sometimes low 40's in minutes. Iman shumpert would be putting up similar #'s to Butler if he was playign those minutes. Right now we are keeping shumpert to low 20's where he should be.

Iman also can play 3 and defende positions where Butler really can only play 1.

I just think this was a rebound year from the injury for Shumpert (it takes everyone a full season after the injury to get there confidence back). Shumpert will be back next year in full force. But we are starting to see glimpses right now.

Butler is a solid player but I think Iman has the chance to be a special player.
