It doesn't. However average and underwhelming Drake is, he's still a couple of notches above Meek. That's what really matters in this particular case, not how "real" Meek is.

Special Ed would beat Vinnie from Naughty by Nature in a battle. That's about the level of lyricism we're seeing on display.

At about 8:40 Royce says he's done what Drake did (taken a hook and flow as reference to making his song). Like I said before most artists do this and any artist that's worked with a great producer like Pharrell, Ye, Timbo, Swizz (only saying them because I know for a fact) has taken something like Drake did as a reference. Sometimes they just say it in the studio, other times they record it.

Craft >>> Everything in my book. If I feel somebody respects the craft and is putting together something unique and inspired, I don't care where they grew up or how they came up. I used to...but Idk, I just aged beyond that. What I don't like is when hip hop culture and music is bastardized (like Kane alluded to so eloquently). As for where Drake stands in all of that...He clearly knows the craft and can kill it but he phones it in sometimes or takes advantage of the pop aspects, so sometimes I find his music annoying and other times I can respect it. But none of his music's standing in my eyes is affected by his upbringing because I don't really see him overly portraying anything street.

Also, Drake puts on for T-dot hip hop. The OVO slogan and sponsorship on KOTD's biggest event this year (second biggest by the end of the year to be fair) is a nice symbol of putting on for his city.

Lets get to the bottom of this. People are mad that Drake is on top but not from the hood. What people don't seem to understand is that most of the consuming public are not "hood".

Im not reaching on nothing. That deal fell through. Everyone knows it. Drake stalled on it. He was just asking for money from a white dude a month ago that was recorded on camera, and he said no one is helping him.Im not reaching, you dont know everything. Its bad vibe ****. Even my G, Chic Raw speaks on it here. He Also BODIED the back to back beat in his diss at Drake. Dont tell me im reaching when you just dont know all the details. the top rappers that rhyme from Canada not even from T.O. you dont even know what you talking about. KOTD aint doing **** for T.O. Organik was doing fine before drake even came on the scene.
