Re: Knicks sign Trey Burke
Burke was the best PG for the Knicks tonight...and he didn't even play. Sessions and Jack were ass and Baker played well on defense but was only meh on offense. Dude can't hit a shot.

Meanwhile LAC paid only 100K for Juwan Evans
The Vertical’s Bobby Marks notes that the Sixers have already acquired $3.4 million in two trades with Cleveland and Utah, and because the max amount a team can receive is $3.5 million, it looks as though Philadelphia was only able to sell the rights to Evans for $100,000.
So many opportunities to get more prospects in and we stayed pat

i wanted the knicks to sign teodosic to be frank's mentor till he was ready to take up the mantle, and i wasn't the only fan on this board who wanted them to sign him as well.
then, this fo turns around and signs the likes of jack and burke to man the pg spot. it's absolutely remarkable that fans on a message board can have more sense than executives getting paid 7 figures.
civic pride is a syphilitic whore.

In our situation we should have overpaid for Teodosic. He would have made our team so much better than Jack and ****.

Why? Burke has more potential than Felder does. Folder will never amount to anything but a rich man's Shane Larkin.

Right now this board wants to sign anyone under 21. It's like this board is borderline pedos. If we sign someone under then alcohol age, that means we're not tanking.

Re: Knicks sign Trey Burke
I know Trey Burke is not a pass-first PG, but our PGs are pathetic. You know who was second on the team in assists in preseason? MICHAEL BEASLEY. MICHAEL F'N BEASLEY. MICHAEL BALLHOG BEASLEY.
Trey Burke could very well be not only the PG with the most potential (not named Frank Ntilikina), but he may be the best overall PG we have on the roster right now. How pathetic is that?
Please God, let Frank pan out. Please

I figure they wanted to give him more time to get acclimated to the team in practice.
Not that, in spite of that, he wouldn't have looked better than Sessions or Jack.

Re: Knicks sign Trey Burke
I figure I'll make this point here.
I get that Burke is a buy and try and the Knicks are leveraging the extra roster spot they get during Noah's suspension. That's a plus for them. Looking to use an opportunity.
I can't exactly locate the blame, but there is some sort of issue between either their NBA scouts, their ability to assess their own talent and where those two intersect with direction and identity of the team, so I'll figure the problem is most likely at the GM/President level. Hear me out.
The Knicks are going to rebuild. They state that clearly. They'll need a veteran PG to mentor Frank. They stated that clearly.
Already we can argue that THJr signing isn't a "rebuilding" step, but I'll let that slide as getting a guy who can actually play offense in a well rounded way to not have KP triple teamed the 2nd he steps on an NBA court.
The Knicks draft Dotson. By all accounts a good shooter with athleticism who dropped far in the 2nd round due to rape allegations. Having scouted him, they see him play in the SL. They also know they have drafted a PG. That they have CLee for the year, at least. And they signed THJr. Why pay Baker so much money when you know you'd have to have Frank at PG, his "vet backup" at PG, THJr and CLee at SG, and Dotson, who seems like, ultimately a better version of Baker? Certainly in any role they'll have this year. Now, you have a situation where Baker will be like the 5th or 6th guard if the clearly better guy jumps ahead of him. It's like the Knicks braintrust has a disconnect between information their coach provides (how's Baker and Dotson doing) college scouts -(what is Dotson long term) and even NBA scouts (are Sessions or Jack actually worth a f*ck?)
Don't get me wrong. Baker was always going to be down in the depth chart. I know Sessions or whoever at backup PG wasn't going to be all that special. But this long preseason look at Jack makes me feel the Knicks aren't sold on Sessions as a mentor. And if they are, why are you playing Jack so many minutes. Then, they seem to think Baker is a PG, and maybe long term he's a 1.5, but he seems like a heady 2, and so does Dotson, but Dotson is way more athletic and clearly has a better jump shot.
Eh, it's early. I'm rambling. I just think better organizations have a better idea of where there young guys are at so they don't make bad signings like Baker when there is another guy right on their team who can do that role and other teams have better scouts that advise them and they LISTEN to, who would tell them that Jacks is cooked, don't even bother or that Sessions is ok as a backup but no mentor, maybe look elsewhere - because to me, the Knicks spent a lot of preseason, at least the games, giving Jacks every chance to beat out Sessions. That just points to directionlessness on the part of the team.

Re: Knicks sign Trey Burke
The mystery element is Trey Burke, the former lottery pick and running mate of Tim Hardaway Jr. at Michigan. After a deal with the Thunder reportedly fell through several weeks ago, Burke was signed by the Knicks off the street Wednesday and landed squarely on the roster bubble.
Joakim Noah’s suspension for the first 12 games will create an extra roster spot. If rookie swingman Damyean Dotson is penciled in as the 15th man, Burke could be the beneficiary of that temporary foothold as 16th man. The G League is another potential outcome.
Burke was curiously kept under wraps Friday night in his last chance to audition for the Knicks in a live game, though coach Jeff Hornacek insisted beforehand, “We know what Trey can do.”
“He’s done a great job in the short time, two days of practice, of picking up the plays, things we’re doing defensively,” Hornacek said. “He’s a guy that can break down defenses, handle pick-and-rolls, he has a good understanding of the game.”
Burke, 24, averaged 12.8 points per game in each of his first two seasons after being selected No. 9 overall by the Jazz in the 2013 draft. He lost his grip on a starting spot in Year 2 and was shipped to the Wizards following his third season.
Wizards coach Scott Brooks, who essentially dropped Burke from his rotation at the end of last season, offered praise, saying, “great kid, worked hard … did everything we asked. Still young, improving player.” — before a word of caution about lumping him in the point guard mix.
“He’s a guard. I don’t know if he’s a point guard or a 2-guard,” Brooks said. “And the way we play, we needed a point guard. But if you need scoring, he’s your guy.”

That was a pipe dream. Teodosić would not sign contract with us. He wanted to be part of competitive team.

But in all seriousness, this dude was dropped from the rotation for Jennings, who isn't even in the league this year
