Garland is going to garner a lot of interest leading up to the draft, especially with his shooting ability at pg. If that Lakers pick is on the market you better believe teams will be looking at trading up to get Garland.

i want durant and kyrie to age well knowing both robinson and barrett are ready to take over.

it's fun going all in, but it's even more fun having sustainable success.

They do this and I just might be done with this team. I am so sick of the "shortcut mentality" and I would really, really like to see what DSJ, RJ, Knox, Frank and Mitch along with KD and another Max (Kyrie) could do together.

Depends on who you get. When you are getting a top 5 player in the game who is 26 and entering his prime you make the move. Some are going overboard on what is likely to go back.

Then Philly traded it to the Nets in 2016 in a Jahlil Okafor salary dump.

I want to keep the pick as well and as I posted in another thread... you could realistically have this:
Ki/DSJ
RJ/Zo/DOTS
DJ/MR
KD/Frank
Taj?/Knox

Point being that's a deep team that's balanced with veteran leadership along with youth... Between the trio of Mitch/Knox/Barrett - I just think they're going to be really good for years.

Taj Gibson is someone I've had the on the Knicks radar since the KD\Kyrie rumors heated up as well. Even though he's not so young anymore, still in great shape and game has aged well. Plus, it's for a couple of seasons while they scout out the next vet to play the same role. He doesn't have to last 4 years.

I'd like to add I've been advocating this approach for a bit, though then I got accused of half stepping/half assing it.

It's a pretty good team; there is also opportunity to trade away Frank or DSJr or Knox or Trier, alone or in pairs etc, for that vet that fits better, along the way.

yes, they shed his contract in the process, but they didn't need to (he was expiring anyway), they did so because Travis Wear earned the spot in camp and they needed the roster spot

That's not really the point. KD and Kyrie would have the ball in their hands a ton. 3rd or 4th option as a rookie; mix his minutes so he can have the ball in his hands for the 2nd unit. Meaning stagger his substitutions. Knicks could sub in Trier or Dotson or Frank (depending on who stays and if Frank found a jumper in the offseason) and then quick hook them back out or over to another position so RJ could have the ball more with the reserves. Just a thought.

My thinking is that the Lakers will end up either a)selecting him for somebody else, b) taking him because hes the best asset at 4 to be used in a trade over the summer?

rj doesn't have that high of a ceiling. you obviously trade him for ad if the trade is available but seriously doubt that.
