Who do y'all have as 5 star players?

Going off last year I'm going with:

Trae, Murray, Giannis, KD, LeBron, Embiid, Jokic, Luka.

Jimmy, DeMar, AD, and LaMelo are maybes - I expect them at 4.5 but borderline 5 stars.

This is pretty much how I have it to. If I remember correctly, the sim usually has 10 or 11 guys at 5 stars, so those 8. Add in Kawhi off his last full season numbers and 1 of your 4.5 star list and put Ja on the at borderline 4.5/5 list as well and it looks good to me.

Will look really good if that last spot is AD

Y'all probably right. Kawhi is probably also a possible 5. I think I'm still just salty about TJ Warren him, Russ, Moses, and Ben would've been a problem.

Kawhi was 4.5 stars last season and missed all of the IRL season and still dealing with injuries this year, so doubt they would increase his rating to a 5. Could see him actually being dropped to 4 stars this season in BAF given how they treat some injured players, hell wouldn't even be shocked if it went to 3.5 stars

You could definitely be right but I'm sticking with my 5 star prediciton for Kawhi.

He was 4.5 stars last year but a handful of guys that were ahead of him last year dropped off, some like Westbrook to a great extent, so Kawhi was actually #12 on my list last year based on his 2021 against everyone else's 2021 but slides into the top 10 this season based on his 2021 against most people's 2022.

So basing this on them keeping about 10 guys as 5 star and assuming he gets the Klay Thompson/John Wall treatment and is not dinged on a non-existent sample size, I think he will get 5 stars.

Dinwiddie and Warren did get dinged off small sample sizes last season but there was a sample size to go off of. Like Thompson who never got dinged, Kawhi had no sample.

This is my thinking as well. Klay was injured for 2 years and his ratings did not change since the last year he played.

Curry was a 5 last year. And you are right he was still killing it for ribs as a 4.5 guy. As long as he does what he normally does I will be happy.

But coming off a year the warriors won the finals and he won the finals MVP and the start this year his best of his career he's never been better.

I don't know. Ask me about how I feel about certain players in real life and how I feel about them in the sim and you will get totally different answers.

This is the same sim that valued Hassan Whiteside as a 4.5 star player at the same time Portland was showing him the door. So NBA value and sim value don't always align and sometimes aren't close.

While Steph's overall value and contributions last year leading the Warriors to the title were as high or higher than ever, his PPG dropped 6.5 pts and his PER fell by almost 5. These facts are irrelevant IRL but the sim (at least in coming up with overall star rating) is a numbers game and I think it will overvalue (or in Steph's case undervalue) certain stats so I think an undeserved star rating downgrade to 4.5 could happen. Although, I don't think you are going to notice the difference once we start playing the games.

Another example is my own Anthony Davis. Based on the fact that he couldn't stay on the court, his IRL value last season was not great. However, his per game numbers and stats like PER were up last year. So deserved or not, I expect him to either retain his 4.5 star rating and perhaps even get the sim bump to 5 stars.

Remember they use a formula for player ratings and Curry just had one of his worst regular seasons. I had him as a 4 star guy in the off-season.

I expect him and Porter to be down especially their 3 point ratings, but I'm still selecting y'all as the favorites because Jokic is absurd and all you need is those defensive ratings to be high again.

We all got caught up in the shooting of your team, but that defense is what really made y'all the best team. I'm still over here praying Jarrett Allen gets a generous 90+ rating on defense just to not be killed by everyone else and you will probably have like 7 70+ defenders. Ribs with Turner and Simmons is probably the only person that'll have a better defense than you.

I sent bish some moves that'll hopefully give me some shooting and defensive depth so I could catch up but you never know. My strategy to winning 60+ games next year (and believe me I think we can pull it off) still involves hopefully shooting 52-55% from the field next year.
