Obv not the time to **** on any players, but if the roster gets somehow too expensive and the cap becomes a problem, I don't see any way they don't choose iHart over Mitch. He is just so much better. And I am a Mitch fan since day 1.

We need Mitch and I said before I hope Mitch can come back reading the game and not setting Slip screens and going for lobs every time. Let’s see if he buys in like everybody else.

Mitch is going to come back. As a 18-20 mpg backup which is his best position

Evan is a salty bitch because Brunson is the guy who the Nets brass tried to sell Bridges as, and it backfired. I called this sh*t last season and now look.

Brunson is a superstar player that defied all conventional odds.

iHart's high iq reads offensively are a huge reason as to why this team is clicking. He's basically the 2nd facilitator. I would bring Mitch off the bench to be a goon with Deuce, Hart and Grimes

I’m not willing to go that far yet because Jalen, incredible as he is, hasn’t earned Ewing-level respect just yet.

That said, totally getting Oak, Starks, Mase chemistry vibes from iHart, Donte and Hart. And Thibs was literally there back then, so obviously that vibe carries on.

When they come out for playoffs with bald heads and black sneaks, I’ll believe.

Obi is more of a 4/3 while Precious is more of a 4/5 though. Carlisle had Obi out there with Siakam and 1 of Smith/Turner most of the time.

If we played Obi at SF some he would have been able to play 20-25 mpg here. He has shown he can definitely play it in Indy with his improved shooting and he has good enough size/athleticism to hold his own on D against bench SFs. He even guarded Durant great last week and Jimmy Butler before him. We just never tried it for whatever reason.

Anyway, Obi is gone. He has his flaws but he’s going to have a solid career and we clearly just used him all wrong. Hes not a star but hes also not Knox or Frank.

hes coming off the bench for the Pacers for a reason. fun player to watch, but not a starter in this league and doesn’t fit our team’s aura

When it comes to the current state of the Knicks and Yankees it does feel like the reverse of what took place in the 90's with these two franchises. The Yankees are reverting back to what they were before they became relevant in 93-95, while the Knicks are reverting back to the contender that they were during those same years.

Not really. The Yankees were bottom of the division awful during the 80s. They haven't had a losing season since they climbed out of the hole early 90s.

The Knicks struggled through the 80s too and came up a few years before the Yankees in 89.

Both teams were good until 2000 then the Yankees kept going and the Knicks turned into hell.

The Yankees last year might not have had the winning precentage of the Knicks post 2000, but being an 82-80 team is way below their standards, and if Cashman continues running them into the ground they might as well be as depressing as those Knicks teams.

The current Knicks on the other hand, despite a small sample size, are the best run NY sports team. If they manage to win a title or two, they'll have the NY spot light to themselves similar to the Yankees of the 2000's.

Well... One bad season doesn't compare to the Layden/Zeke years but, I can see what you're saying. I seriously doubt the Yankees go on a 24 year ride through hell like the Knicks did. I would gladly trade spots for the Knicks to win a title or two though.

This season is ridiculous

It feels like everything is coming up Knicks, even when things go wrong

I mean, we're missing 3/5 of our starting lineup and a key bench player, yet we're still rolling

I'm trying not to be pessimistic, but the way everyone is playing over their heads reminds me of 2021, like it feels like the wheels are gonna come off at some point

But they haven't so far, so I guess just enjoy the ride

Also, Brunson is ridiculous and should be in the conversation for most unguardable player in the league.

That was a dogfight. Thibs should be getting COTY consideration for the way this team, down multiple critical pieces, continues to fight and compete at a high level.

The refs were atrocious. Brunson was hit multiple times throughout the game, no calls. Can't wait to see the 2 min report for a laugh

Someone copied a tweet in this thread. Would be interested in the timestamps.

I found the reddit post:

Made 13hrs ago. I also notice that the Knicks wielding metal bats is a reoccurring theme in that thread

The refs were terrible, but they were terrible both ways. In the first quarter we got away with some stuff for sure that kept us afloat. They gave us like 3 make up calls to counter the allowed mugging of brunson

There’s never been a 8 man rotation for the ASG before. That would be fun.

Brunson plays 43

Thibs would name Jarett Allen as Randle’s replacement, play him 40.

In January, Jalen Brunson:

• Scored more points than Nikola Jokic & Jayson Tatum
• Dished out more assists than Luka Doncic & Devin Booker
• Made more 3-pointers than Dame Lillard & Jamal Murray
• Achieved a higher individual +/- than every player in the NBA!

I know Red's had longer ones, maybe I could have worded better like '3 winning streaks of at least 9 games'...but it was late and I was a little high

I wasn't belittling this current streak, it's awesome. Maybe they can shoot for 18

Those guys were out with no option to bring them in....So that's not really relevant to last night's game flow.

If Carlisle said "I really want this win", went full Thibs, and left Hali in once their lead shrank to 4 .....Knicks were in trouble. But Hali left halfway through the 3rd and never returned.

I really dislike the Pacers team. Would love to be the one who eliminates them from the playoffs.

I mean I guess...I think the refs still gave Indy more luck with all those terrible non calls against Brunson, and yet we still beat those clowns. All in all they had atleast as much luck as we did imo.

Brunson definitely should have had at least 4 more free throw attempts.

Even so, Knicks basically doubled the Pacers FT attempts, 25 to 13, so I can't really harp on the refs too much this game. They let us play physical defense. 8-)

https://dunksandthrees.com/epm

Overall EPM percentile ranks for our players this season:

Jalen: 97th
Isaiah: 94th
OG: 91st
Julius: 87th
Donte: 81st

Mitch: 79th
Grimes: 56th
Deuce: 51st
Hart: 41st
Precious: 41st

Taj: 12th
Sims: 11th
Flynn: 11th

Semi Honorable Mentions:

Quick: 69th
Obi: 68th
RJ: 68th
Cam: 50th

So judging by EPM we are definitely starting the right 5 guys. Hart has underperformed this season. Mitch is great but not as great as Isaiah. Quick, Obi, and RJ are solid players but nothing too special right now. Precious is coming on lately but had a rough year before this stretch. Grimes and Deuce are okay backups. Sims isnt good.
