The way they our training staff has been i bet Mitch will play over 55+ games next season. OG played 74 games this year and he hasn't played 74 games since his rookie season. We need defense at 5 are we gonna trade him for another 5?

Mitch has been showing his value since his series against the Cavs.

Mitch interior defense is great, his offensive rebounding skills is great.

But he is still an injury prone player that gets lost around the perimeter. His offense is limited, coaches will always play that hack-a-Mitch card in their pocket in future playoffs, and you can see that he isn't rebounding you can see that he disappears.

Lost on the perimeter?

It’s kind of crazy to think that we had more game threads than 27 teams in the league

We had thoughts that we had a legit chance at making the finals. We had a lot of fun watching knicks playoffs hoops. Thats a great season. This will go down as one of the best seasons especially considering the terrible front offices and rosters we endured for the last 2 centuries and a half.

So he was the culprit for those leak outs? oof

Game 6 will be a microscope of KAT's flaws on defense throughout his career.

Yep. This L is mainly on him.

Everyone else is fine to keep.

I look forward to taking a break from this board. The quality of discussion is not there, and it seems some people are reveling in the team's collective failure to make the Finals to push their obsessions while everybody's trying to cope with the disappointment.

Enjoy the summer.

Fantastical small changes that would have us in the finals right now:
- Carlisle as Knicks coach and Thibs as Pacers coach (coach swap)
- Brunson allowed to take up the ball without body checks, hand checks, forearm extensions every play
- CBA rules letting us keep iHart and not having to trade Randle / Divo to try to solve our Center dilemma

We are right on the cusp of the Finals. East is weak and the Pacers are a good team (not great) taking advantage. God knows what Western opponent will be there next year -- I don't think we beat the Thunder in most scenarios -- but there are other West teams we would have a much better shot against.

I'd like us to get more athletic and to possibly offload Towns, but I admit I have no solutions for how to do that off the top of my head. I like KAT a lot but the combination of his deficiencies on D and our coaching makes me expect more of the same next year in terms of our inability to get stops against smart teams. On offense he gets no whistle and is boneheaded. He can save us in some games but he costs us more in the long run at the highest levels of competition. Hoping I'm wrong and that we just need a year to gel + a bench because I don't know how we trade him for a strong center + bench depth.

Other than injury concerns I wish we had Anthony Davis at the 4/5. Doubt the Mavs even consider it.

Gotta love how this PG thread turned into the usual culprits using it as an opportunity to single out Kat for everything that went wrong with this series. True his defense blows, but keep in mind his knee is injured along with his finger. Most of the team sucked this series, especially this game. This loss falls on many people. Just a horrible game from the players to the coach.

Mitch's salary next year is down to under 13m. The Knicks will at best be over the first apron and under the second. How are you going to find two role players for 13m?

Just quickly looking at trade machine.

Would you do Lonzo Ball and Julian Phillips (filler) for Mitch?

Lonzo is your best ball handler, good defender and does shoot the 3 well. He can guard the 1-3 position and is switchable on defense.

I would welcome a trade of KAT and Deuce for Bam and Davion Mitchell.

Again the KAT hate is nuts, blaming everything on him is nuts, we aren't getting Jokic or Gisnnisn for him, you run it back, sure up the bench and gel even more. This team is close don't do something overdramatic.

Knicks will never trade Brunson.

It is possible that KAT will get traded.

Most likely scenario is we stay the same and build the bench.

the CBA basically makes that impossible with the contracts they have. U basically are bargin binning the bench if you don't get rid of a starters contract.

Who wants KATs contract is the issue.

Mikal to me is your most valuable player. He's still the one other teams will covet.

KAT weaknesses are a lot and his contract is even more

Brunson is Brunson. He got that Randle feel to him where most will take him but they won't give up much for him

OG is cool. You need to keep him.

Brunson is one of those overachievers you want to upgrade from. Like going from Stephon Marbury to Jason Kidd or Steve Nash

This was a fun season.

Lots of work to do though to take the next step. I wouldn't be married to anyone on this roster or staff if the goal is to win a championship. All options and avenues should be explored

brunson great scorer but if he is not with the ball looking to score, he's a detriment.

poor defender and poor playmaker. he is an iso scorer and nothing more (in the playoffs). but POA poor defenders never get as much flak as poor backline guys.

the issue I have is the front running ****. Like when they are losing he is quiet as ****. Ant Edwards is way more authentic he is talking junk regardless.

He wasn't doing a lot for a large portion of this game. Then he gets hot while we are reeling late and he thinks he is the big dog.

Siakam, Obi, and Bryant and then Nembhard switching onto Brusnon were the reasons they won that game.

Yep unfortunately thats what the boards been turned into because mods give out 755 last warnings to the same core of troll posters who would rather be """'"""right""""""" than see the Knicks win and be wrong.
