still, everyone who's being honest knows that there was something fundamental that changed this year that had nothing to do with coaching. this year felt different after the changes we made. so go make some more.
There was... but a big part of it was that we still had Thibs and got anti-Thibs players. The personnel philosophy shifted from the coaching philosophy.
i don't believe there's a philosophy that works with enough bad defenders. i guess d'antoni would argue otherwise. but he never did win it all either.
You all pretend like Haliburton wasn't hidden on Josh Hart the entire series. He can't guard anybody, but Carlisle adjusted. Turner could not guard Towns at all and had trouble keeping Robinson off the glass, but somehow Carlisle figured it out by throwing different bodies at him. Meanwhile we had Achiuwa and Hukporti collecting dust. You spend the entire series struggling to defend the ball, but you play McBride less than 20 minutes a game? Also, why even have Delon Wright on the team. Game 3 you figure out the Shamet is useful...I mean come on, there were rotation things that could have been done to help both Brunson and Towns but Thibs just couldn't get out of his own way.
Where was this lineup:
Brunson
McBride
Bridges
OG
Towns
or this one:
Brunson
McBride
Bridges
OG
Robinson
or this one:
Shamet
McBride
Bridges
OG
Towns
You know where they were? Somewhere lost in 30+ minutes of Thib's Josh Hart lovefest.
I love Josh Hart by the way, but this series needed shooters on the floor. We did not need Josh Hart for 3/4s of every game.
