still, everyone who's being honest knows that there was something fundamental that changed this year that had nothing to do with coaching. this year felt different after the changes we made. so go make some more.

There was... but a big part of it was that we still had Thibs and got anti-Thibs players. The personnel philosophy shifted from the coaching philosophy.

i don't believe there's a philosophy that works with enough bad defenders. i guess d'antoni would argue otherwise. but he never did win it all either.

You all pretend like Haliburton wasn't hidden on Josh Hart the entire series. He can't guard anybody, but Carlisle adjusted. Turner could not guard Towns at all and had trouble keeping Robinson off the glass, but somehow Carlisle figured it out by throwing different bodies at him. Meanwhile we had Achiuwa and Hukporti collecting dust. You spend the entire series struggling to defend the ball, but you play McBride less than 20 minutes a game? Also, why even have Delon Wright on the team. Game 3 you figure out the Shamet is useful...I mean come on, there were rotation things that could have been done to help both Brunson and Towns but Thibs just couldn't get out of his own way.

Where was this lineup:
Brunson
McBride
Bridges
OG
Towns

or this one:
Brunson
McBride
Bridges
OG
Robinson

or this one:
Shamet
McBride
Bridges
OG
Towns

You know where they were? Somewhere lost in 30+ minutes of Thib's Josh Hart lovefest.

I love Josh Hart by the way, but this series needed shooters on the floor. We did not need Josh Hart for 3/4s of every game.

You gotta learn how to play it, when things aren't going your way you avoid the Hamsterdam thread, and report anyone who tries to get at you with arguments outside of it. When things are going your way you go in there and cause hell, then disengage and act like nothing happened when you're outside the thread. Some people here can't let go of the beefs, and you can use that against them.

are you really hitting the report button ? that would disappoint me

I have once, and I told him I did it because I wanted to annoy him, and it absolutely had that impact. If I can actually annoy someone, like the person behind the screen, I gotta take it.

thoughts on Jay Wright?

Just like all things Villanova, you won't find anyone who loves Jay more than me.

I don't know if the pro game works for him. He's so demanding and so much of what he was able to accomplish was because he had complete control of the culture.

Villanova had a few wilderness years in between their first F4 appearance under Jay in 2009 and their Nat'l Championship in 2016. That was because he started recruiting 5 star McD's All Americans who thought they were bigger than the program.

It wasn't until he made all incoming recruits commit to 3 years otherwise he wouldn't sign them that the culture changed and Nova become the machine it did under him.

As a tactician and basketball mind, he's brilliant, but just like Coach K and Pitino, I don't think he wants the ego management and 100's of variables that come with the NBA. He didn't even want to deal with NIL.

But the Knicks have always been his NBA dream job, and I've heard rumblings from plugged in people that I still know from the Nova community.

If they intend to run the exact team back, maybe Jay Wright.

They should be looking to trade Hart though.

I think Malone would be an upgrade over Thibs. As crazy as that sounds.

This coach was alright I guess, but stubborn rotations and outdated basketball. We never saw the pick and roll that should’ve ruled the entire league. Also no motion, not enough action. This team will now grow.

These strongly feel like the top two options on the table.

You could tell players had no energy left at the end of the Pacers series, pretty sure they mentioned that in those meetings

I think based on the new rules, he can still threaten to shoot Wingo in the face as long as he doesn't keep typing it into different threads, and also provides a somewhat lengthy description of why doing it is a good idea.

HAHAHAHAHA man I was so overjoyed I couldn’t even articulate
It’s not that I hate the man, it’s that I love the Knicks more
When you’ve been watching the game as far as I have (and I’m sure many posters on the board have), you realize all the different things we could have been doing. All the sets we could have ran, all the defense we could have tried, all the lineup rotations we could have tried out. That’s why I beat the drum the hardest for him to be fired.
