If DENVER comes to Donnie and says add Gallo with the intial offer, you have to pull the trigger.

If anyone, on 2:59 pm the day of the deadline , declined an offer from DEN to add Gallo in, you are an idiot.

Good point, and I am sure there is something in their Italian link that would definitely cause MDA to want to hold on to Gallo over someone like Chandler (obviously) and even Fields...... now lets hope it isn't to the extent of sacrificing Melo... but we've seen how stubborn MDA can be about somethings - and while it's Donnies final decision, you never know.... and yeah, I think there's more to their relationship than fellow countrymen...I wouldn't be surprised if MDA would feel particularly bad about having to send this home grown product out to the middle of no where in Denver..... I hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised....... It's not an excuse for Donnie though, this is Donnie's team to manage, not MDAs

no. they want gallo & chandler. if it was only gallo i think this would be done.

He said they wanted 2 of the 3. Look at how Gallo played earlier this year when his name was in trade rumors, and no Chandler. If all it takes is Gallo and Chandler (neither of whom will NEVER BE ON MELO'S LEVEL), how do you say no? It's like saying I don't want Amar'e because we have David Lee. It's UNREAL.

No, it's not like that.

SAS even said that no one knows what Denver wants. They have never said "give us Gallo and Chandler, and Melo is yours"

Stop panicking people

Can you confirm they are friends? I remember reading that Gallo said his dad never talked about Mike D. I have never had anyone confirmed they were more than teammates.

Weren't they roommates? -Jitpal

I've had friends who were roommates of mine and I haven't spoken to them since college (10 years). I just always hear that Mike D is tight with Gallo's dad and I've never heard anything to confirm that, if anything, I think I heard Gallo say once or twice he didn't know Mike D.

this gets us to the 2nd Round for the next 3 years, until Amare's knees start to give out, and then we start over again, with no titles to show for it.

We need more.

you add our draft pick. the mle. vet min. maybe we do better. plus there's still the remote possibility of getting someone in 2012.

Yeah because that would be the EXACT same team for the next 3 years. Im sure Donnie just plans on getting Melo and than relaxing for the next 3 years and not improving team.

how the hell are going to afford CP3, with absolutely no tradeable assets if it comes down to a S&T? Or ANY other big time FA to form a Big Three? Most of our cap will be tied into Carmar'e, and our bench will be total shyt on top of that. Now you see why Donnie is taking such a hardline stance. Idiots think two stars and a bag of scrap metal will get us to the Finals. We need MORE...much more.

Improving the team with what assets? Williams? Walker?

I found this Isola article from 2008, draft time, with a quote from D'Antoni.
He has the skills to thrive in D'Antoni's system. Gallinari's father, Victorio, played with D'Antoni in Italy.

"That was my roommate and teammate for eight years, so obviously there's a connection," said D'Antoni, who also coached in Italy. "But at the same time, I don't know where the scouts are or what Donnie has in mind, so I guess in the next three weeks we'll figure that out."

Link

Yeah, but beyond that, I'm not sure how close they are. Why doesn't anyone bring up that Chandler is the last holdover from the Isiah era as a reason that Walsh is quick to add him in the deal? The Gallo double standard continues. -Jitpal

true but there will be a way to add players. if you need cap to space to sign guys, there will be a lot of talent getting the vet minimum instead of the mle. there's only so many teams with cap space.

HOW? How do you improve the team if we have to sacrifice all of our mid-1st round picks and two starters to use in a trade next year? What if the new CBA does away with, or drastically lowers, the MLE? The Vet's Min? Who do we pick up? Juwan Howard and some other washed up bums? Please.

I to do believe we are try to keep Gallo because if CP3 dosent sign an extension and the hornets try to trade him.. Gallo would try to be the best asset to give to New Orleans. Fields on the other hand.. Im not sure if they would include him as well.. and also i think were trying to save our 2014 1st round pick to give to the hornets as well.

^^ we're talking about 2 superstars....not 3....you're thinking like we'd be paying 3 max guys like the heat, with nothing left to spare..... Adding Melo to Amare isn't going to leave us like Miami searching for scraps and bums to surround them with.

Return to New York Knicks
