He is younger that's it but if you can try to spin it into something else be my guest.

I'll take Hayward just on being younger. Melo needs to be on a team where he can win a championship without being the first option.

As the person who lead the argument against "the trade", I must say that the haters have become completely irrational. But I guess that's why they're called fans, because they're fanatics.

I look at Golden State and I would take all 4 of their best players (Durant, Curry, Green, Klay) over Hayward.
So yeah I would classify Hayward as a 2nd tier star but that might be good enough to get him in the All Star Game in the weak EC next year. Hayward is currently better than Melo too. Melo was certainly a better player in his prime but that's in his rear view mirror now.

With Boston looking to shed some redundancies, how about offering our cap space (TPE) to Boston for either Crowder or Smart. Both are young vets on good contracts to add to the core.

Then we can do a separate deal of Courtney Lee for Avery Bradley. At worst, it sheds Lee's long-term deal and, at best, it gives us one of the best defensive SG's in the league to possibly pair long term with Frank to start what could be the makings of a defensive powerhouse. They may consider it because they don't seem to want to re-up Bradly after his contract expires next season and Lee is locked into a moderate deal for a few more years.

Frank, Bradley, Crowder, KP, Willy. That's a nice, young core IMO.

Any word on what BOS is dumping? I saw Kelly being renounced.

Why would we do that? Neither Melo or Hayward are first options to lead teams to a championship anyways.

I'd be happy to absorb a young Boston player or two - if they could be a long-term piece in our rebuild.

im an **** for even asking but there isn't anything that the Celtics can offer for KP, right????

the Celtics are gonna be hard pressed to be able to add a star by trade due to matching salaries, e.g. smart + bradley + Crowder is only 20 mill and thats doesn't really add up to most stars salaries.

however, with kp still being on a rookie contract is there any trade that even gets the knicks to not laugh and hang up.

does bk pick, la pick, mem pic, plus any combo of players work???

Because comparing a 33 year old to a 27 year old isn't a fair comparison. Obviously Hayward is more valuable now.

Melo at 27 was most certainly a #1 option on a contender. Not sure how him offensively in his prime is up for debate

The Knicks aren't trading him. You guys should try Robin Lopez, Drummond. I'm not sure what other bigs are on the market.

Ainge wasted money on Horford. He's completely overpaid and they could've gotten Boogie.

think KP is an untouchable now that Phil is gone.

smart+bradley+crowder to the knicks
Melo to the Cavs
Love to the Celtics

how does that sound? :)

Not even close. Not even close to being close in Melo's favor. Young Melo would give you 40 on his sleep.
