According to Pelton's data, the value of the 9th + the 36th pick is 88% of the value of the 4th pick. Since Chandler's contract has such significant negative value, one would think that would be sufficient value to get a deal done with Memphis (assuming the other pieces to make the trade work are acceptable to both parties), without having to include a future first-rounder (or Frank, of course).

I wouldnt fold. Frank has already shown he can defend at NBA level at 19 at the minimum.

The #9 pick is guaranteed to be in any deal, even taking Parsons back. The question then becomes do the Knicks have to give up a 2019 pick (protected) as well?

Who is giving them a top ten pick and taking back that contract? Who? So why bid against yourself?

They've explicitly stated that they are looking to trade down, not out of the draft. CHI, ORL, DAL all can beat whatever it is we're offering.

I see us staying put at 9 & 36. Y'all just have to accept reality instead of coming up with these ridiculous trade scenarios.

So you know for sure that those 3 teams are taking back the contract in the process or are you just talking out of your ass? A salary that constitutes about 25% of the whole cap that is dead money, all 3 of them are willing to swallow it?

It's a simple question I'm asking about the contract and if they want to trade it without the contract, there will be many more teams interested in it.

That being said, I would not hate a Knox pick if those guys are all gone.
After watching the above video, I would go all in and hope to grab Vanderbilt with our 2nd rounder. Knox and Vanderbilt definitely play well together and would be a great young duo to add to our core.

Lee, Thomas and both picks for Parsons and 4?

Don't think that gets it done. Memphis would want 2 solid players along with the picks, but taking that albatross contract back kind of balances it out though.

Maybe, but Granger had a lot more grit and played much better defense in college.

He was a multi-dimensional player which I havent really seen from Knox.

Granger came out at 22. Knox is 18 still.

True, but even as a freshman Granger put up good rebounding, block and steal numbers. Only really remember his senior year but he was an all-around player that could do a lot of things and played with grit. Just don’t see that type of game from Knox. He can improve and even change, but it’s rare to improve on some of those things if you are not that kind of player.

I don't know, that "highlight" game against WVU doesn't seem to special. He just runs the break a lot, and hits spot up shots. He gets I think 1 rebound in the video, and then goes up weak with the ball, presumably from getting fouled. The fast breaking is not gonna be available for him in the NBA nearly as much. I guess the best takeaway is that he can hit some spot up shots.

If he had a complete package he would be a top 3 pick. The thing with Knox is his potential, not how good he is right now. At 18 years old he's not going to have a polished game but if we are looking at drafting him then we certainly are looking at what we can mold him into and not what he's going to bring to the table for us day 1.

Eh even with a more complete game, he wouldn't go ahead of Ayton, Doncic, Bamba, Bagley. Probably not even JJJ. So no, not top 3.

None of those guys are locked to go top 3 except Ayton, not even Doncic.

i remember being here for a lot of draft nights though. does it usually crash on this day ? i thought it happened more on the day of a blockbuster trade or lebron signing somewhere. i don't have a good memory for these things though. i only remember the important stuff around here....you know....the used blow up dolls and the guy who f*cked dan patrick's daughter. that kind of stuff.

I'm not the one talking out of my ass here buddy. They are fine with keeping the pick and getting a top prospect. It's pretty damn obvious that the contract has to be included in any sort of trade discussions. Don't really know where you're getting at here.
