RJ is ball dominant, will need a PG that can play on or off ball, particularly one that can shoot the 3 to space the court. DSJ doesn’t provide any of that.

Gotcha, but I see Dennis as the pg and primary distributor on this team, and RJ as the secondary ball handler and spacer. He was one of the better floor spacers in college last year.

RJ isn’t really a floor spacer. He needs floor spacers around him.

Sure he is

This is the perfect example of stats not telling the full story. A floor spacer is someone who’s adept at scoring off ball, moving without the ball, and finding off ball screens to catch. That’s not RJ.

I think it's more people are focusing on the wrong stat. Look at the ppp, RJ's at .89 compared to Keldon's 1.08, Iggy's 1.19, or Cam Johnson's 1.3

He just took more than everyone else, so his raw ppg is high, but he's not super efficient

Him and DSJ both need to work on their shooting

If he pulled that stuff in NYC, he'd be sleeping with the fishes in the East River. Or even sleeping with the raccoons in the Pine Barrens.

This idea Dlo is a great shooter, not sure where it’s from but last season was first season he had ok shooting splits. His splits for his career are mediocre.

Who said he was great? Being able to shoot or at the very least better than DSJ doesn't mean you have to be great. DLo is a better shooter/scorer than DSJ this isn't even a debate

Not that much better and Dlo has been in the league longer.

DSJ shot 43.6% from 3 on open look 3’s as a Knick and shot overall 35% from 3 as a Maverick this season. His jumper isn’t broken. Just needs consistency. There’s potential there for sure. Let’s see what happens next year.

Be interesting how DSJ plays next season. Gotta share the rock with RJ.

DSJ is needed because he's the only one who can penetrate consistently and break down the defense. I think him and RJ can thrive

So they both need to shoot better than Booker and as good as Eric Gordon. At least.

They won’t. You know that, so you can start your indignant outrage now. That’s higher than Frank’s fg% for chrissakes

Rondo actually would be a good "mentor" for Junior. Rondo has that arrogant no holds barred personality (that Smith seems to also have) but knows what it takes to excel and win in the NBA. Smith needs someone that he can connect with that can get him to take the next step up in his evolution as an NBA player. The talent is obviously there in loads. You don't need to change who Junior is, they just need him focused and pointed in the right direction.

The guy shot almost 32% as a rookie, yes he regressed last season but its not like he cant get to 33~36% in year 3.

I’m not saying they didn’t work out those guys early. I’m saying the smoke was if RJ went 2 they were going to pivot and pick one of the point guards. That was why they were bringing in all the points late so they can get a good read on them if Memphis did something funny

We don’t know what they would’ve done. That’s all speculation. Case closed lol

I’m just connecting the dots...

Perry is a savvy GM, so I am sure he is looking at all options in the event one door is closed he will try another. I would not be surprised that depending on what happens in free agency he would not be in touch with those teams about the pg's they selected. After the draft, he will not be able to get a personal look at them again until they become free agents.

not a bad choice. Granted I want Junior to shoot a lot better than Rondo, but he's a good role model

He's a good 6th man. Would be solid off the bench but we still need to find our starting PG imo
