“I’m not worried about second, third option,’’ Bargnani said this morning. “It’s all about winning here. Doing as much as possible. I’m really starving to win.

“I think we can play against anybody,’’ Bargnani added. “This team can go very far. I’m glad to be here. I just can’t wait to start.’’

And he couldn’t wait to be out of Canada.

“I had a weird experience in Toronto,’’ Bargnani said. “I had good years and the last couple of years were bad. When you lose there’s going to be frustration. I’m going to do as much as possible and everything I can to help this team win.’’

Bargnani played just 35 games last season because of wrist and elbow injuries, speeding up his departure. Knicks coach Mike Woodson said Bargnani needs to become a better rebounder. He’s averaged just 4.5 rebounds in his career.

“I got to get better in many aspects of the game,’’ Bargnani said. “I had so many injuries. Last year was tough for me. I’m looking forward to helping the team in many ways.’’

-Andre Bargnani

Don't think that's true. He did need a change of scenery, but he actually liked Canada. Specially considering he was trying to become a Canadian Citizen.

Berman's a hack. Half the time he doesn't even know the players names.

Bargnani said he will "focus a lot" on defense and rebounding. "I got to get better in many aspects of the game," he said.

saying all the right things. personally i'd work on your jump shot. get that back up to a decent percentage.

Here is the thing with Andrea, and I know cause I have watched most of his games since being drafted by the Raps, if his shot is falling and he has some positive plays early, he is much more engaged on defense, to a point that it becomes mediocre. Trust me when I say mediocre is an improvement over the alternative.

When he doesn’t get early looks, shot doesn’t fall, or he forces his offense at ill times, his defense goes right out the window. He really becomes a statue on D, and will jack up bad shots on O.

So you are absolutely right when you say he should work on his shot. Indirectly, he is also working on his defense.

And just so most of you don’t get overly disappointed mid-season when you realize Andrea's D sucks, every off season since he joined the Raps he has stated the same thing "I must improve on D, I must grab more boards" It has never translated into better D or more boards. He is what he is.

Allow him success on offense, and his defense will improve as a result.

Andrea's 1st season with us saw him coming off the bench, allowed to hang around the perimeter and take early 3's, with Bosh playing down low mostly. When he hit a few 3's and the opposing team had to man up on him, he would take bigger players off the dribble, when they put a smaller guard on him he would post them up. It all relied upon him hitting those early shots and the game opens up for him

But miss a few, you are in for an ugly night. Problem with the Raps was he always was allowed to stay on the court.

I am oddly excited to see what he can do in a different situation with a different team.

I think there is a general misunderstanding about the expectations here. If Bargnani can give us what Tim Thomas or Al Harrington used to give us, I think it is more than enough to justify the trade. Anything more is great, but we don't expect him to be an all-star caliber.

Yes. Bargnani can space the floor and make the defense pay with his sub-30% 3 point shooting and our rebounding and defence will shoot way up.

He's been a poor three point shooter for two years in a row, and was nothing special the year before that.

I'm all in on Barnyarni. Hopefully a better defined, smaller role on a better team is the answer for him.

He had a major calf injury a wrist and elbow injury. Before that he was always one of the best Raptors shooter, and he can get his shot off ANYTIME,ANYWHERE,so you always have to have a man or two on him.If you move in on him he'll go around you and dunk on your ass.NY could of used him in the playoffs last season

He's got to be our legit 2nd scorer for us to stand a chance. If he can drop 18 on 45% shooting, that would be huge.

Bargs sounds motivated. It's a shame JR will take all of his shots.
