He's always sounded motivated.
My guess is that he'll have a good start, but sustaining that and remaining healthy could be another story altogether. He's missed 90+ games the last 3 seasons.

bargani actually has a basketball resume that's not as bad as most make it to be
james had a good playoff series, then danced around in a trash bag.

He was also injured two years in a row.

Gordie: Sorry, Vern. I guess a more experienced shopper could have gotten more for your seven cents.

First of all how are you physically?
Physically I'm fine, the elbow injury has passed, I'm training for several weeks at 100%, then I'm fine, I'm healthy (grinning).
Are you ready to start this new adventure?
Yes, ready and anxious to start this new adventure, I'm happy beyond every limit (smiling very happy), I can not wait to get started. Now there will be the National Team so I will have the opportunity to train and play many games, returning at 100% in shape, so when I return to New York I will be ready from the first second.
What does it mean to play for a strong team like the Knicks, with title ambitions and especially at Madison Square Garden?
It 's amazing. New York is where it all started with the draft, seven years ago. New York, obviously there are no words to describe it, we all know, it's an amazing city and, therefore, play on a stage like this, in such a strong team, I think, from a basketball player point of view, there is nothing that one can want more than this.
I've always gone to play with my National team, physical permitting. And it's positive, regardless, but in my situation it is vital. After two years of injury is an opportunity that comes from the sky. Playing games for a month and an half at the highest level and when you get here (NY) you're ready to go.
I'm so so delighted and happy (smiling happily) to be here. This is a winning team, which has passed the first round of the playoffs and wants to win, wants to get to the top, so for me this is a new experience. It 's the first time I find myself in such an environment, a winning environment. The priority now is to do what I can to help this team. About the starting five ...., who starts on the bench between me and Stoudmire, it is not absolutely a ....... This is a coach's decision, it's nice to be starting, but I'm very ready, no matter, even if I do it from ....... the showers!

Not sure if this was reported earlier today or before. But that's good news to me.
