I think I have found two NBA big men this year Zach Auguste an under rated athletic PF who has a LOT of size for the position at 6-10 245 and athletic and this guy. Both guys are not covered by any draft sites but should be.

Looks like Purvis finally had a good night. Could be that he is healthy but he was hitting threes and contributing for once. I hope he can keep it up. Columbia gave Kentucky a run for its money so I was expecting a tough game. It was a tough game but UConn pulled it out at the end with Boat, Purvis, DHam and Amida all coming up big. I hope this is a turning point for us!

This will be a post forgotten within a day and never talked about again unless you bring it up again. Neither of these guys are studs.

1. Mudiay. Not really a PG IMO. In the scouting videos his playmaking is getting into scoring position and then making a good play. Nothing wrong with that, it's dominance on the court to get in scoring position so often. The challenge is when their is better competition. He has great defensive potential and could be one of those nightly triple double threats.

2. Towns. He and Mudiay have the most potential. Mudiay is my number one because of need/likelyhood to reach potential/immediate impact. Towns on the other hand will likely show cornerstone ability towards the end of his rookie contract. He looks to be a two way player. The defensive side of the ball could be a problem but his size and nimble feet suggest he could dominate. On the offensive end extremely versatile. Able run an offense throught the low/high post and not only score with back to the basket/face up game and through his passing ability. These two are the two true cornerstones. Also happen to be true all-around players.

3. Stanley. I think he's Butler/Kawhi. He's going to be a starter for a long time. A defensive ace. His scoring will be through spot ups/cutting/transisition. Not a go to guy but he's going to bring a winning attitude.

4. Okafor. I know he's the best in college but as a big he doesn't get to the line, isn't a strong rebounder or defender. Bigs need to get to the line or will have to continue to convert. Something very hard to do for anyone let alone a big. He's likely the first to average 20ppg. Likely next years ROY.

5. Kelly. Seems like Memphis/Sac Rudy Gay. When it comes to scoring he's good at everything just not great. Will make a few plays that only a handful of players can make. He also has great defensive potential but of the top five I fear him reaching his potential to be the hardest. If he can he will be in the running for top five SG.

I think Mundiaye at worse would be Jrue Holiday.

after watching a bit more of okafor i think he looks like the guy right now. while i think it's a stretch to say he could be marc gasol on defense since marc isn't particularly athletic, i think okafor has the brain to develop into a decent defensive player if he decided to emulate a guy like marc.

Well let's hope that Okafor wins the tourney this year in dominating fashion so we can convince Marc to play the David Robinson mentor role to him if we are lucky enough to get the #1 pick that is.

i dont know why guys are quick to talk down on okafor defense but praise Towns defense like he's a great defender. Yes he has good defensive instincts and has the length to bother shots but he's also foul prone, lacks toughness, Not a physical player, lacks lateral quickness and needs to develop his body and get stronger. Kid has HUGE potential but lets not pretend he doesn't have his flaws.

i think Towns will end up being more of a power forward than a center in the NBA.

Two bad rebounders does not sound good. One or the other.

That pg Harrison looks to be falling out into the second round. Is he mostly talent or does he have an IQ? I'd like to see us pick up a big pg so guys like D.Wright interest me. Any intel on him or other big pg

Not a huge fan of Okafor but I guess if we get the #1 pick we got to take him... I actually like Towns and WCS better now for us. Okafor plays so much like Shaq down low with his footwork, but I hope like Shaq realize later in his career he had to add a left hook shot and 10-15 foot jumpshot to his array of offense moves. He is going to have to continue to develop his offense, (ft shooting, jumper) and his defense.. which is going to depend alot on his conditioning.. his athletic explosiveness and lateral quickness must improve for him to have an impact in the NBA... current he has more weakness than Towns, WCS and Kaminsky and doesn't really fit any of our immediate needs from his skill set. I ask can he add anything more than what amare is currently given us? Then again its a move for the future. As the college season goes along I want to see more from him... want to see improvement... only averaging 4 fta a game for a big who is force feed the ball, something is not right. 1.3 bpg and dude has a 7'5 wing span and stays in the post, something is not right. Once the season finishes Okafor must continue to work on his conditioning, body, ft shooting, left/right hook shoots, jumpshot, has a little faded jumper already but should work on extending it out to 15 feet.

Once he gets to the NBA he wont have the ease of over powering centers, he will be playing against strong grown man. Think about DHoward, guarding him now.. DHoward would not let him score.

Hope if we draft him, coach K gives Phil a good review of him and we also find an offseason mentor like Shaq or Hakeem etc.. that can work with him on learning the triangle, his footwork, strength and overall explosiveness on both ends of the floor. It will be up to him.

Physical limitations, has trouble breaking down defenses off the bounce. Mostly uses strength and size to bully his way into the paint. Obviously in the NBA is big and strong so that hurts his stock. Not a great shooter also.

Has great size but not the type of athlete the NBA covets….

Towns, Okafor, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Hezonja are my favorite prospects right now. If we draft any 1 of them I'm good.

If we get Okafor, Phil needs to get Shaq on the phone ASAP & train him all summer.

But your overall post is a fantastic markup on Jahlil, everything is well said.

The last thing Okafor needs help with is his footwork. And why get someone notoriously lazy like Shaq to help him do things he's already better at than Shaq ever was.

And as I read this Shaq's Gold Bond commercial came on.
Twice.
Dead serious.
Don't know what that means but it happened.
