RJ's last game in the tourney wasn't too impressive either with all the ballhogging..
I can understand the due diligence here esp if a desperate team such as the Cavs is potentially willing to pony up..

Culver was ass his last three games of the tourney

Rowan Barrett is hilarious.

Here's also a great insight into Barrett from Barrett's, Coach Ks and Steve Nash's POV. Also sheds light on the friendship between Zion and Barrett that is being talked about when talking trades for AD.

So...like I said...don't screw this up Perry!

if grizzlies draft barrett i’m afraid they’ll draft morant when they should draft culver and see how morant falls.

I would prefer barrett to morant but if by some chance barrett goes 2 I'd either take morant 3rd or maybe trade the pick down to someone that wants a PG, definitely wouldn't just pass up on him for culver

I find it really weird that everyone that seems connected to the NBA (coaches, scouts) seem to love Barrett.

What am i missing? Maybe his mental makeup is that_good.

The scouting community finds consensus that Barrett is a top 3 player in the draft.

There is a ton of variation on whether or not he projects as a scorer off the bench, a starter, or a future all star.

Why everyone down on Ja? Morant is going to own the league and I wouldn't mind him dropping to 3.
I watched as much tape as possible on Ja, but watched his tourney games and he is ready for the wide open NBA.
Just watching all of those PG battles between Lillard and Westbrook...then Lillard and Murray has got me believing that Ja can produce at the level of some of top PGs one day. Small frame, but he knows how to finish in the lane and will have to hit the 3 ball consistently like any young player. His willing passing is winning basketball. I hope we aren't one pick behind the best player in the draft again.

Ja has amazing burst.

But Im starting to see what some of the other posters are saying about his game.

His defensive effort is completely non existent. And he's got trouble finishing at the rim. I look at his shooting and once its in the air, it looks good. But he's got a really low release.

When you zoom out, PGs dont make or break teams over the last 20 years. Magic and LeBron playing point-forward are basically trhe last 2 PGs to gfet their team to a championship. Everyone else had bigmen or wings. Wade's championship was completely manufactured by the refs.

But I turn the Morant tape on and you are just mesmerized by his first 2 steps and how much distance he can cover with his burst.

I still like Ja. I think a lot of people are pigeon holing him into the Westbrook mode but a PG with his combo of smarts and dog mentality hasn't come around in awhile. PGs usually have one or the other. He has both. The guy I compare him to is Kevin Johnson and I think you could still win with Kevin Johnson. Hell of a playmaker/head and got to the rim at will. Ja should be able to come around somewhat with his J or just get hot occasionally like he did vs. FSU.

That’s true about almost everyone in the draft.

Have to agree here - I don’t think this is a Barrett or bust situation and a ton to like about Morant, but I also don’t think either guy makes or breaks the team either. Both guys seem like really good pieces on a really good team that would fit with quite a few different styles of play, which is all you can really hope for.

RJ must be hearing about this trade-out or trade-down scenarios. Good move to put out statements and articles about how he loves New York to emotionally blackmail our FO.

Almost had a heart attack when I say that the Cavs and Knicks had discussed a trade. Though it was for the 3rd overall pic lol.

But I'd be ok with the Cavs 26th for Frank. It's clear the Knicks don't believe Frank's a fit in what they want to do. So no reason hanging onto him and, more importantly, that near $5 in cap space.

The 26th pic, assuming they even keep it, counts only $1.4 million against the cap. Knicks would clear about $3.5 million more in cap space

As far as player options at 26? Maybe someone to replace Vonleh? Dikembe Mutombos nephew, Mfiondu Kabengele is a big long armed mobile defender that can shoot from 3. He'd be a good fit in what the Knicks appear to want to run.
