People thinking getting Reddish increases the chances of trading Randle, when in fact it increases the chances of trading Fournier.

Switch everything on the perimeter, like the Raptors or Warriors do, hide IQ on whoever is the stand in corner shooter.

Cam can’t play the 4. Though he’s 6’8 he can’t guard big PF because he isn’t that built. He also does not rebound well.

Maybe he can play if another team goes small, but he is mostly a 3 or a 2 like Fournier.

He's the same size as Obi, he's played 20% of his minutes at the 4 this year, and 40% his rookie year.

Obi has arguably more allies in the FO than Randle. He is younger, cheaper, easier to build around as his game isn’t as clunky a fit with other players as Randle. He has never rocked the boat or offended the fan base. In fact he is a clear fan fav. To boot, he isn’t viewed as a possible “mistake” by the guy running the show. I don’t think Obi is the goner that the narrative is running with today.

Julius is lately being patted on the ass for running around setting screens and moving the ball like a hustle PF, who can’t shoot but can facilitate. Only that’s not what he got paid for. His confidence is shot and it wavers on makes/misses. I’m pretty sure he has the yips and his mental makeup is not built for NYC. Leon knows this. He just has to find the right sucker. Jules is outta here. It’s a mere matter of time.

I’ve seen so many players not be able to perform in NY. You don’t just recover from that. Jules only time performing there was literally no one on the arenas.

Everyone here knows Obi is my guy. You dont gotta sell me on him, but the most important ally he needs is Thibs and he hates him it seems.

Of course Id move Julius before Obi but I dont think that will happen. Obi still wouldn’t play much more if Julius got traded most likely lol.

Something just has to give at some point because Obi hasnt even gotten the minutes that Frank, Knox, and many other Knicks scrubs have gotten. He cant play 10 mpg the next 3 years.

As evidenced by the 72 minutes that Thibs gave Obi in the two games that Julius missed only two weeks ago...

Even if Cam doesn't get a lot of regular season minutes this year, you can bet Grimes and Cam are going to get significant minutes in the playoffs due to their defensive capabilities alone.

Or the front office lacks vision and just made the trade because he's Barrett's friend and the trade in a vacuum looked like a good deal.

So where do they find minutes for him because Knox wasn't getting many? And what happens to Grimes minutes the few he was getting?

As soon as they trade Randle I'll know they are a serious about doing it right this time.

The player you want from Atlanta is Hunter anyway. Cam feels himself too much during games sometimes and loses focus.

He's nowhere near as thick or broadshouldered as Obi. Cam's also the same listed height as Julius, doesn't mean he's anywhere close to the same size.

That said, he can play some smallball 4 with his length, but he is much smaller than either of our 4s.

Best part of this deal is we gave up our worst first rounder and worst prospect.

Pills would have traded Grimes and the 2023 Mavs pick

I keep trying to sketch out lineup constructions with our current roster and it's a mess. Certainly feels like some people plural are going to be on the move.

Guessing with how the world works these days we will soon hear "Knicks looking to move ____" ahead of the deadline. They have a little less than a month, which is ample time.

Really, really hoping the Knicks don't use McBride or Grimes in a deal. They have some real potential to blossom with more playing time and development.

Hawks will probably waive Knox and open up 2 roster spots. Either way they opened up a roster spot with adding Hill in the trade.

The Hawks are going to make a big move at the deadline or earlier. Their GM has been on record as being unhappy with the roster and direction of the team. This trade is going to be part of a bigger move.

People acting like Obi is already gone cuz Cam is the new toy.

Don’t fall for the narrative. You can like Cam and still see a place for Obi.

The reality is, there is no future in your highest paid player shooting like 35% from the field and 25% from 3 while getting butt-patted for setting screens and over-passing cuz he has the yips. Confidence living and dying by each make/miss. There is no future in that.

Until he gets out of his own head, he is the guy the FO would obviously prefer to move. Players who lose the ability to perform in NY seldom ever just get that back.

Thats because a lot of guys were out. Julius, Sims, Mitch, and Noel. Only Obi and Taj were available.

This team always make moves with qualifiers:

He's from NYC and going home bring him in
He's from Kentucky and out front office is connected to Kentucky bring him in
He's a caa client bring him in
He played for the coach in a previous year bring him in
He's from NYC (this one gets recycled often)
He used to be a teammate with x player in the past bring him in
He always torches our team bring him
He was drafted by the gm on a different team bring him in

It's never hey we need a playmaker who can get in the lane and break the down the defense. There always has to be a connection. It's dumb af and really annoying. And it's been every front office not just this one.

Obi has twigs for legs, he's 220 and Cam is 217, they are roughly the same size height/weight/wingspan, the difference is Obi is a better rebounder and more physical.

But, certain matchups we can't really play Obi, like against the Celtics. I think that Celtic game is part of the reason we traded for Reddish, we just didn't have anyone else with size to put on Tatum/Brown, when RJ was on one, the other had Fournier on them. Obi can't guard a lot of the mobile pseudo 4's that are really 3s.
