Suns publicly basically saying they would trade him before the draft they basically nuked there leverage. Now Durant and Rich leaking stuff like not wanting to go to Minny and Minny doesn't want to give up Gobert/DD + whatever other assets for a 1 year rental.

The Heat are basically just offering PHX potential luxury tax relief but there package is basically going to be headlined by Jacquez? Are they even offering Ware in the deal?

Suns asking for #2 pick or Castle for 37 year old KD is comical.

They are in a **** spot from there own doing.

I guess they can get bailed out by maybe TOR just saying hey we want to win a bit more next year and get a big name like they did with Kawhi but this isn't Kawhi in his prime....KD at his age aint making a non playoff team a contender.

the raptors aint offering sh*t either. 1 good pick and some combination of rj, quick, olynk supposedly.

Nothing is really that good.

HOU headlining the deal with Jalen Green (who doesn't fit next to Booker)

SA headlining the deal with Vassell + Barnes contract

MIA with Wiggins+Robinson+Jacquez

and are teams really offering a lot of draft capital?

Minny was there best chance with a package (Gobert+DD) but Durant and his team quickly nixed that with the leak he doesn't want to play there.

poetl not ollynk obviously

i don't even like that deal for minny. gobert is pretty damn important. people seem to always overlook what he does. i think they'll be worse after.

Being in the mild dry climate of AZ all winter long gave Durant probably his two healthiest seasons of his 30s but stick him in a bitter winter city and he goes back to being a brittle cupcake snake.

Yeah. Absolutely terrible. I would not be mad at getting KD in a good trade. Too bad he's 54mil expiring and we aren't tanking.

How does a trade work out mathematically? Does Stupid A Smith know anything about the cap/apron rules work? What are we filling the roster out with?

KAT straight up is a terrible idea because we are already up against the second apron. Phoenix would have to cough up draft picks and they don't have any. It would be Antonio McDyess all over again.

So...OG/Hart? Still want picks back. Mikal Hart and Mitch? Really?

He's a rental with maybe 2 years left in him? Not interested because I'm a realist.

Knicks had no interest. Dont know if it smart considering it might have only cost Hart, Mitch, Bridges and a pick...but it would have never been KAT. We gotta see if they have something better in mind....

Agreed I think his defense at center is always overlooked. He is always like there highest NET rating guy.

Like they could go 5 out with Naze Reid and KD at the 4/5 and give Ant Edwards elite spacing...but there defense and rebounding would be horrible.

What's Pursisainen been smoking? The Lakers offered multiple 1st rd picks and were rejected by the pick hoarder Ainge. That Knicks offer for Kessler he is proposing is truly laughable.

there is zero chance Kessler after his best year of his career is being traded for a "fake" 1st and a couple 2nd rounders.

No way...if Jazz are trading Kessler they will get multiple 1sts.

I agree and think thats way too little an offer. However I think he was also saying Mitch was getting sent to a 3rd team in the deal too.

Someone suggesting essentially 5 second rounders for Kessler? That would be a good deal for the Knicks so this means it's not going to happen.

they see him not be able to stop like jokic or someone one and one in the playoffs and say "he sucks". he's holding that whole team together on defense.

Knicksfan1992 wrote:Like others have stated, I do think Mikal has the best chance to be moved if there's no extension talks. This FO tends to value player control and it's not like Mikal really proved himself an invaluable piece to the team consistently last year.

Maybe the FO talks themselves into a new coach unlocking him and don't want to sell low on a guy they paid a premium for to bring in.

But I also think they could look at this as somewhat of a sunk cost and try to extract as much value to get better fitting pieces in that enhance the core a bit more than Mikal did last season.

I just wonder how the FO would approach a Mikal trade. Would they look to bolster depth or try to use Mikal to get a perceived talent upgrade from somewhere else.

I think with Mikal, I would lean more to getting quality depth and maybe re-stocking our picks a bit but I oculd see the argument to just amplifying the talent level and hoping a coach can get something out of Dadiet, Kolek, and Huk to naturally provide depth

I think with a Mikal trade you would target middling teams looking for some more juice in their SL.

A few ideas I had:

Monk/Keon Ellis/draft comp for Mikal - This is my favorite Mikal for depth trade. Idea would be you get more shot creation and shooting off the bench with Monk. Then you can either start Deuce or Keon and have 48 minutes of good POA defense.

Coby White/Lonzo Ball 1-2 FRPs for Mikal - Similar idea to the above. Bulls have a glut of guards and probably don't want to pay Coby long term with Giddey, Dosunmo, Buzelis and Heurter all there.

Herb Jones/Jordan Hawkins/Alvarado + 7th pick for Mikal - I, admittedly, don't love this one but getting the 7th pick would allow the Knicks to then parlay a bigger deal with possibly Mitch or OG attached. Or they can try to find a productive rookie in this pretty good draft class.

These might all suck upon review but it's really hard to find a good Mikal trade because that 24 million is just tough to work with to get a real impact player or players back.

I’d hope they’d have some idea if Mikal would sign an extension. They did fire the coach for him.

If I was ranking these trades, I’d probably go kings, bulls, pelican. I’d love to get my hands on Colby white and he’s the best player offered up for Mikal but I’m not really sure what lonzo can offer you on the floor at this point. Don’t want to run the risk of making it only being a Mikal for white swap.

On the other hand, Monk and Ellis give you 2 solid role players and getting your hands on a couple kings picks would be amazing trade chips. Start Ellis and OG automatically becomes the third option and the fixes pecking order issue between OG and Mikal. Monk can come off the bench with deuce and hart and be a 6th man. Gives us a solid 8 as long as everyone is healthy for the playoffs.

Love getting my hands on the 7th pick but herb is really injury prone and I’m not sure if Hawkins is even a rotation player. Maybe we get lucky and the 7th pick ends up being one of the immediate stars of the draft but historically we’ve had a bunch of terrible luck in the mid lottery.

Easiest move is to extend Mikal and Mitch because they are both difference makers on fair deals. Potential trade chips later.
