No way in hell they make the playoffs with Melo...this is just another trade I do not see happening. Playoffs being one reason and the team he would be going to is the other. Not to mention he would not be able to add any other stars to that gutted team because of Rip's contract.

I don't see playoffs for them, they are giving up a lot of talent in Harris and Favors leaving. They MIGHT be able to go .500 the rest of the season (remaining games) and still finish way under .500. Lopez is in full regress mode.

I think he is actually doing the right thing. If you guys notice, most people are saying how that Nets team will suck and he would be crazy to go there. So he is going to be respectful of Denver's wishes and instead of nixing everyone from the start, he is going to play along and allow Denver to find a great deal and allow the other team to pitch to him why he should go there. They'll have their meeting, he will say, I will think about it. Then come back and say, I really tried to work with you Denver but that is not a great situation for me. I am sorry. Now trade me to a team that is ready to win (Knicks) or I am ok to test free agency and see where I end up (Knicks).

Just had the same thought.... :D

I think we are hopeful. What I will say is, I hope and I think Donnie has some deals on the backburner or some players he has in mind in case we dont get him. I would like us to finally get some use out of Eddy Curry (and yes, I only mean trade value!)

It makes sense. But so did Lebron to NY.

I don't try to think logically anymore. There's no such thing as logic.

With what would be left of that team with the rumored additions? Not a chance.

I have no doubt that Donnie has plans B through Z set up already. Our team management is the last thing I worry about with this team anymore.

If they actually convince him to sign, it would be a sadder day for Carmelo than it would for the Knicks.

Truth! We aren't nearly as desperate as we were a year ago this time, we are winning now without him with flexibility to add other pieces like a decent big to play next to Amare. We'll also have our first round pick this year to perhaps find a decent backup at the point. Not to mention keep our young talent in Fields, Gallo and Chandler.

I honestly feel this is a no lose situation for us, if we get him GREAT, if we don't GREAT.

Keep accumulating assets, there are other players to be had out there.

You're speaking some serious truth yourself, man.

Take out the first 11 games of the season, and this team is 19-8. That's a .703 winning percentage, which would put us only behind the Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Heat, and Magic. And in case people forget, this is WITHOUT CARMELO.

Not only do we have cap space and a first round pick this year, but we have a core that consists of six players still on their rookie contracts. Three of those players have demonstrated exceptional talent that should only get better, and one (AR) is a disgruntled prodigy who clearly has trade value. This is an amazing situation to be in. So long as Amar'e and Ray stay healthy, we're in great shape moving forward with or without Carmelo.

Gasol is not leaving Memphis...he's a RFA and they will definitely match EVERY offer.

As for Iggy, I'm still undecided. Very good overall player...but he can't shoot.

The reports have been Melo to the Nets from the start but a deal hasn't happened let's not forget that now. In any case I haven't gotten myself emotionally involved in this Melo thing like I did with Lebron so I'll be okay no matter what happens.

Mike Slane: Would the #Nets actually trade for Melo before he agrees to an extension? That could destroy a franchise that's already near rock bottom. 4 minutes ago

Kurt Helin: Report: ‘Melo wants Nets to sell him on team, future http://dlvr.it/DKYMn #PBT #NBA about 9 minutes ago

i know this link has been posted, but how can broussard use that melo line about the knicks not wanting him, when his own station, espn's around the horn, showed the actual video of him saying it, in which he's clearly joking. the panelists even said he said it jokingly. is he just incompetent, or choosing to completely ignore the context for an extra paragraph in his article. seriously, i dont believe anything any of these guys write, big stories like these dont make these "reporters" it exposes them.

they are not bad, they have beaten all the good teams, but seem to not give a crap and lose to sucky teams.
