Hey, I was really blown away by how he almost put up Nash efficiency #'s in his rookie year 50/40/90 percentages in the FG%/3PT%/FT% categories (just falling short).

Haha, I'm holding onto him for dear life! LOL

I wanted your pic right before mine so I could pair him with another favorite of mine who is actually still available.

ps: people have been making real smart picks so far. looking forward to rest of draft :)

I would have picked him at 11 over Anthony if he was still there. Was basically hoping for either Love or Deron Williams to drop. If either guy did I would have taken them over Anthony. But once both got picked, it was Anthony. From my point of view is you need that one dominant guy (either offensively...be it individual scoring or executing offensives...or defensively...like an intimidator like Howard) as the cornerstone guy before worrying about anything else. Anthony was really the best left as far as dominating in one or the other area (the guys that dominate on both ends were gone).

I'm surprised you didn't pick Nowitzki over Melo though. Is it because this is the Knicks BAT? :o

At this point Irving has shown no glaring weaknesses or holes in his game. At pick #14 he is as efficient as you can get for a young player with a ton of upside and on a cheap rookie deal. I'm running with the OKC philosophy.

I like the pick. I was going to take him if Aldridge was gone

Thanks. LA is another one of those guys who is arguably one of the best at his position yet doesn't get all the hype due to playing out west in Portland. He has improved every season though, no denying that.

Definitely agree. That's actually one of the reasons I participate in this thing. Gives you a deeper understanding of how your fellow posters think and their overall basketball knowledge. Not to mention, it forces you to learn more about players in the league you otherwise wouldn't follow and you develop a certain respect for their game without any fan-driven biases.

Was between Melo, Dirk and Griffin for me.

Dirk a bit too old (34 next season) IMO for how I like to build teams (more aggressive physical bull dozing teams...every team I've run were built for the same type of smash mouth style). He also is coming off an subpar (for him) season and his team got bounced quicker than Anthony's Knicks did. Sure the championship last season was great but couldn't overcome the age and style fit for me. But definitely was this close to taking him (Nowitzki is one of the most talented PF's out there for sure).

Absolutely. Btw I'm glad you referred to me as "this 'smh' dude." Means I'm starting to be known by name.

What do you think of my pick of Russell Westbrook, bro?

If I know Moo, I suppose it's because Melo is younger.

Yeah age had a lot to do with it. Was close. Bounced back and forth a bit. Griffin was the other guy aside form Nowitzki that I was considering once Love and Deron Williams were taken (had hoped one of those 2 dropped).

And no if anything this being a knicks BAT would work against me taking him since the general tendency of a lot of people is to think that the grass is greener, the other teams players are better. I even discussed this negative impact with albert as a reason to not take Anthony.

But ultimately, Anthony is not as bad as some believe nor is Dirk as great as some would believe (especially going into age 34). If we were talking about a 28 year old Dirk or even a 30 year old Dirk or maybe even a 32 year old Dirk that would start next season I'd likely have taken Dirk.

At 34 he will age a lot like Nash, and maybe even better because his shooting and the way he scores is so good.

Check his playoff numbers and compare them to Melo's playoff numbers this season. They played a better OKC team than last year, and they lost some key players.

Scary how a season where he's a bit off is still some amazing scoring efficient numbers. He did complain it had a bit to do with the condensed season, it was something he was not prepared for.

Melo although only 27 has 9 seasons playing hard ball in the league. And his style of play will not give him the ability to stay elite like Dirk for many years to come.

Yeah I don't know about that. But the style of play also had something to do with it. I'm a proponent of Bully Ball (what Miami plays, the Bad Boys Pistons played, the Celtics with Bird played what the Knicks played wellin the Ewing years and not so well recently...basically try to punish your opponents physically and more so psychologically). Plus it gives me a chance to try to build a team that actually fits around Anthony.

dirk is such a great pick since we all know what he did last year and know what kind of level he can perform at. When it comes down to judging a team being a champion dirk can and just has done that.
