It does feel like Dolan is sitting at home and loving his power.

1. Lin - not likely that someone is going to want that 15M price tag.
2. Amare - maybe you can trade him but not to a team with cap space. So you'd have to find somebody with a TPE otherwise your just taking salary back which defeats the purpose.
3. Melo - better chance than Amar'e that someone with cap space is going to want Melo.
4. Tyson - see above.

So there lies the conundrum.

Tyson || Melo > Lin

The end of Linsansity is coming. Now it's up to Felton to show up in shape. If he does it's not that big a loss in my opinion.

If we aren't true contenders by the third year, you blow it up. Get as much youth, and as many picks back as possible, instead of giving another series contracts to a core of players that proved they couldn't win in their prime. We'll have Lin and Shumpert in the backcourt and we'll build around them.

Or if Lin proves to be a solid starting pg with flashes of greatness, I bet we'll be able to move him to some team looking to sell tickets and hoping Linsanity returns.

Or you can trade two of Felton, Novak, JR, Camby, and Kidd to lessen the hit by 20 million.

We'll have options.

Lot of ifs there.

1. If we aren't title contenders.
2. If Lin proves he is a max player.
3. If JR doesn't sign a more lucrative extension.
4. If you can trade Felton, Novak, Kidd or Camby without taking back salary.
5. If you can get picks and/or youth back for an aging Tyson Chandler and Stat.

Or you can not sign Lin and hope:

1. If Felton returns to the same as the last time he was here.

One situation has a lot more moving parts.
Play time is over.

They'll match. The uproar would be too much for the franchise to handle...

I don't think Lin would be untradeable at 14.8M...for him to be untradeable, he'd have to revert to the player everyone thought he was in his first season...the fact that he showed the world his skill level is certainly NBA rotation level is indicative of him being a productive player. So if for some odd reason things aren't working out or Lin is directly responsible for NY being eliminated in the 1st round again, there will be a market for a 25 year old media sensation point guard who's name will still be a big enough draw to get the "Linsanity" fans in the arena hoping they get to witness some of the magic he gave the Knicks last year.

How many of you guys would watch a TV Special like the decision on MSG at 1135pm tomorrow?

Commentary from Hahn, Tripuka and Traugtwig

Also some words from the General Manager, Allan Houston and James Dolan behind their rational?

It seems like Berger wrote a whole article based on what other GM's are speculating.

Well okay.

dolan probably hates this. it has people in the media talking bad about him again. but they're definitely proving who's still the most important team in town with all the coverage. so that's a plus.

Al Iannazzone: The Knicks officially acquired point guard Raymond Felton today. Jeremy Lin could be an ex-Knick by tomorrow. http://sulia.com/c/nba-free-agency-2012 ... ce=twitter … 2 minutes ago

Chris Sheridan: Dwight Howard apparently DM's fan about his true feelings, different takes on Linsanity in today's news (@nbatupark): http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2012/07/16 ... s-the-day/ about 5 minutes ago

I think Reina is right and Berger is wrong -- you can trade Lin too. If you can trade Melo, you can trade Lin. Teams will be itching for his rights and one year of Lin. If not, you go to Chandler, and then the smaller assets that you can find homes for one by one.

I'm telling everybody who will listen that Lin is legit. He will not disappoint. Think of how maturely this guy plays ... at 23. And the things he has to work on -- his jumper, changing pace as Kidd said -- easiest things to improve on.

We could always dump Tyson and it'd be EASY to find homes for Novak, Fatty, one by one.

i doubt we would dump tyson. Tyson is the kind of guy who can play like he does right now for 7 more years easily.

If in 2 years we need to think about trading some of the guys in order to rebuild, count on Melo or Amare.

The problem I'm seeing is that what motivation will teams have to take on more salary when they can just leave us in lux tax hell and make extra money for free that way.

If we just got Raymond Fatton and if Lin gets match by the knicks...Wouldn't Houston be screwed in regards to their PG situation?

J.R. Smith had some things to say about Jeremy Lin’s situation, from Sam Amick: ”I’m sure the city would love to have him back, but the team decided to go in a different direction,” Smith said. “It’s nothing personal, I don’t think, just business. We just hope everybody can benefit from here. ”I don’t really know how Mr. Dolan [owner James Dolan] feels at this point with what the luxury tax is now and what it used to be, but I just hope it works out the best for both of them.” Asked if Lin’s contract could cause a challenging dynamic with his teammates, Smith agreed. ”Without a doubt,” he said. “I think some guys take it personal, because they’ve been doing it longer and haven’t received any reward for it yet. I think it’s a tough subject to touch on for a lot of guys.”

LOL.

He'd have to really suck. And then we just deal Tyson. Wouldn't be that bad; we could rebuild around Melo Shump and Lin.

If the Knicks lose Lin, it will be Carmelo Anthony’s fault, according to Jason McIntyre: “Carmelo Anthony has never liked Jeremy Lin. Melo, the “franchise player” who has a 17-37 career playoff record, hated it when Lin burst onto the NBA scene at the end of January and owned – owned – the league for three weeks, vaulting the Knicks from the lottery into the playoff picture. Lin’s meteoric rise mostly coincided with an Anthony injury, essentially dividing the team and the fanbase. Who can forget Anthony derisively referring to Lin as “Rudy?”

Chris Mannix is on 1050 and he, like many of us, think this is all about Dolan getting his feelings hurt.
