Yep I said it would be a decent debate after the leap Hayward took.

Hayward is in the same tier as Jimmy Butler and PG13 If you ask me. Both are better, but he deserves to be in that convo now

No he doesn't. Too bad they both went West.

PG had a really down year. Everyone forgets he really wasn't PG13 last year.

Hayward improved significantly with the 3 and defensively.

Jimmy is clearly better, but Hayward isn't far behind anymore. He's underrated in Utah with a team that has a slow pace.

We'll see. I like Gordon, so it's whatever.

But Melo isn't 27, so what's the point? More alternate reality in Knicks Land?

If we're comparing their careers, then Melo's is far far superior. If we're comparing them in 2017-2018, then Hayward is the far superior player.

the Celtics need another star but that isnt NYK's concern. howver;

KP
Horford
Hayward
Bradley
IT

is as nice as it can get. interesting 2k line up indeed

I would do KP for Brown + Tatum + Brooklyn 2018 1st + mid-tier 1st, but your fellow fans don't seem into it.

You need to stop bringing up KP trades. You've been doing it everywhere. Phil Jackson just got fired for dangling KP out there for 4 x #1 round picks. It's literally never happening with Dolan as the owner. Erase it from your memory banks.

Why do these basic concepts keep going over TOR head? Hasn't seemed to bother anyone else.

A comparison came up. I said compare them at the same age instead of Melo right now to make as many variables equal. You never did a science project as a kid?

Melo at 27. Hayward at 27. Who's better??

I disagree. Haywood crapped the bed in the playoffs. Melo even at 33 would have played better when it counted...

Melo by far.

Is Melo at 27 ever gonna be in the NBA again?

the Celtics are gonna be hard pressed to be able to add a star by trade due to matching salaries, e.g. smart + bradley + Crowder is only 20 mill and thats doesn't really add up to most stars salaries.

however, with kp still being on a rookie contract is there any trade that even gets the knicks to not laugh and hang up.

does bk pick, la pick, mem pic, plus any combo of players work???

Ask away. This is a message board where you shouldn't have to apologize for talking trades. Many Knicks fans here are not offended by a fan from another team asking about our players. Actually, that is a good thing because it means we have players that other teams want. I would be more concerned if fans from other teams didn't come here asking about our players.

looking more and more likely melo is going to be starting for the NYK opening day. not that i thought for one second ainge wanted anything to do with melo.
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

Who said he was going to be 27 again?

You know we have done the same thing when comparing KP to Pau or WHG to Marc.

I disagree. Haywood crapped the bed in the playoffs. Melo even at 33 would have played better when it counted...

Carmelo Anthony has the worst playoff record in the history of the NBA.

These are Carmelo's shooting percentages in the playoffs
.328
.422
.333
.480
.364
.453
.464
.375
.419
.406

Look, Carmelo clearly has the better career. But Hayward is clearly the better player right NOW. Let's not act like Carmelo did some amazing things in his playoff career. He made it, and sht the bed just like Hayward did.

the story with hayward is everyone underrates him because he played on the wack ass utah jASS and is white

the reality of the matter is that his defense was better than paul george's last season (small forwards do not fare well against him) and his offense eclipsed even jimmy butler's.

Hayward stepped up in the playoffs unlike butler and george who were slightly exposed.

Hayward is legit and anyone who thinks otherwise is either a casual or delusional. He's a great fit on boston as well as he does not need the ball in his hands that much to do the damage that he does.

Paul George was clearly inferior to both Hayward and Butler last season. Butler and Hayward are pretty similar but I'd give the edge to hayward for his greater skill offensively and versatility (Hayward can legitimately play the 4 for portions of a game)

Possibly. Melo lacked motivation last season, but put him on a competing team like the Cavs and I think he looks no worse than Gordon and could easily look better IMO.

Good for Hayward and the Celtics! They could challenge the Lebron Cavs for the Conference and get killed in the Finals.

Return to New York Knicks
