I like what Derek Harper has to say about him. Harper was a solid player and now covers the Mavs so he knows Brunson’s game well. I respect Harper’s opinion and he’s very high on this guy.

Raymond Felton

that would imply that raymond felton was better for us than jeremy lin was

Well we went to the playoffs with Felton, not the 2 weeks of Lin.

This is where I'm at with it.

Was that a roundabout way of soliciting a hug?

my understanding is that we're talking about best point guard play, not present-for-melo's-big-year-with-kidd/sheed/thomas-leading-the-locker-room

also we did go to the playoffs with lin. then he didn't play at "85%" and that was basically the writing on the wall for his time here in new york

2. melo is not coming home to ride the pine. he'd be a rotation player

It was more that ridiculous poison pill contract Houston gave him which he never lived up to. They did him a favor because if he came back and couldn't repeat that run we would have killed him in here

Neither Durant nor the Nets have any leverage!

This is Jimmy Butler and Paul George kind of situation when the formers asked out of Chicago and Indiana respectively

Fournier has only one year remaining and Randle with Irving will be Derron Williams with Brook Lopez part Twei :D

I was at the Mavs game and he dunked. Was awesome. Went to eat and came back to the Garden for the Ranger game that night and they won in overtime. Amazing day.

It's team friendly that the numbers decline as the cap increases which (a) provides more cap flexibility and (b) brings the contract closer to market rate for an average starting PG as the deal gets shorter.

Actually, it's kind of the opposite

It raises the AAV slightly because it becomes a 3 year deal for $80 million instead of 4/104

That's player friendly, because he can opt out for a bigger bag in 3 years while still getting the largest yearly payday

It would only be team friendly in the way you think if the last year was a team option, not a player option. It would be more team friendly if it were an increasing deal

Because the first 2 years will be more expensive than if it were increasing, and we're only gonna save like $2 million (if that) in his 3rd year vs an increasing, then we have to re-sign him in year 4 for more than he would have made, which more than offsets any gains

It's really not team friendly, it's very player friendly.

If he performs that well that he wont mind opting out than its still a great deal plus you shall have the full bird rights after three full seasons

By next off season the deal will already be a steal based on these max extensions the younger guys are getting. By the time the last year of his contract comes around, he will be getting paid the same as high end bench PGs.

If memory serves correct, we were out of the playoffs (11th) when Lin & Amare went down. Then Melo went on that ridiculous tear to end 11-12 - quite possibly his best basketball of his career. Then we finished in 7th.

I was a huge Lin supporter and wanted to re-sign him. Made no sense to me that we let him go for free. Keep him, make him the 6th man with JR, then trade him if there’s too big of a glut.

We desperately needed a guard who could finish in that IND series.

Anyway, time marches on

Well, coach Eric says the Knicks suck and play iso ball so signing Jalen was kind of pointless.

I agree. Knicks should empty the roster and promote Westchester to the NBA, since none of the current players are bringing in a championship.

I'm certain playing with chuckers like _ulius and R_ will get him to the bottom of the league in no time.

RJ 3PT % when set up - 36.6% w/ 26.2% frequency

Julius 3PT % when set up - 29.2% w/ 19.6% frequency

Just some of the numbers available here

Feels good to talk so much and particularly, talk highly, about a player all year and then actually get him.

We rarely get what we want

The best part is not even being allowed to feel good about it.

1/2 the media sh*ts on it.
Even some coaching vids dufus craps on it
1/2 the board hates it or is mad some fictional move didn't happen
Another large segment mad it wasn't a championship move.
Elf should have come back on a 4 year deal
