JJJ/Bane & Clark (for salary matching) for KAT/Bridges

JJJ/Mitch
OG/JJJ
Hart/OG
Bane/McBride
Brunson/Wright

Thats a much better lineup to assemble around Brunson.

OR

2. Giannis and Kuzma for KAT and Bridges and 3 FRP swaps and Wash 1st.

3.Bill Simmons suggested a 3 way deal with KAT and Spur picks going to Milwaukee, Giannis to NY and Bridges to Spurs

4. Would Phx be willing to move Dev Booker for KAT? Both have the EXACT same salary both in annual salary as well as total contract amount.

5. If Minny wants to resign Randle.....Mikal Bridges (24.9) and Kolek (2.1) for DDV (11.99) and Naz Reid (15M opted in player option)

Brunson is terrible and you’re still talking about building around him? Jaren Jackson is another soft big man who jacks up threes.

It’s Giannis or bust.

This is Brunson's team lol. That is not changing. Defense worked great until we added KAT who was just not a fit for a Thibodeau defense.

Giannis no question would be the ideal upgrade. He even could be the 5 some minutes depending on matchups.

JJJ is not a bad consolation prize either if Memphis wants to blow it up.

JJJ has more than 1 year been in the convo for DPOY. He is not soft on the defensive end in the least. He is the less KAT and more DAWG.

The problem is Brunson is a 2 in a 1s body. He isn’t a distributor. Hes a ISO G. He’s been beyond amazing for us, but they need another ball handling G that can defend in the back court next to him. Let Brunson play off ball more.

Towns to ORL for Suggs, Isaac, Joseph, #25

Need to find a deal for Hart too…

Send Hart to the Clippers for Bogdanovic. $3 million cheaper, can shoot, same effort on defense.

Bogdan is a great player I would do that trade in a second.

I mean I'm high on Hukporti's potential. But I don't see the Knicks trading Mitch and not picking up a centre to block Huk's development of Thibs is still the coach.

Again, my question is what can you get as a big wing/4 for under $13m?

And, backtracking, yes Lonzo is theoretically interesting. But what faith does one have in his durability?

Honestly at this point I wouldn't even mind taking a chance in the draft to get a big wing/4 if someone was willing to give up a decent pick for a package of Mitch and maybe the Wizard protected pick. I know many people always seem to think we can't waste a player like Brunson's prime while developing young players but the Knicks have struggled with younger more athletic teams all year. I wouldn't mind an injection of youth, energy and athleticism.

It may be a gamble the team needs to make to get a potential difference maker since no team will likely give the Knicks a quality starter for the limited assets they want to offer unless the Knicks want to continue to make major changes to the core of the roster but at some point they just need to settle on a group an attempt to build some chemistry and continuity.

Ok. I understand that point of view. But the Knicks already have Dadiet and McCullars .... who are good, going to be second year - just out of being dragged, big-wings/small-4s. So ... do you really need to draft another one. For Thibs to also not play and develop?

And give up Mitch for that opportunity?

I really don't think so.

I don't really look at Dadiet and McCullar as guys that can play the 4. I feel like part of the problem the team had this year is that OG was forced to play the 4 more often since he was only guy with the size and strength to put on someone like Siakam while also providing some weakside rim protection if someone came rolling down the lane. Neither McCullar or Dadiet have the length or strength for that role.

McCullar is strong but he is more in the mold of a Josh Hart at 6'5 with an ok wingspan. Dadiet is a little taller but with less strength and the same 6'9 wingspan as McCullar. I would be looking for someone more in the mold of a young OG.

I love what Mitch brought to the team this postseason but he also missed like 75% of the season and did not play b2b when he returned along with a minutes restriction. He is clearly one of if not the most dominant rebounder in the league but he has limitations offensively and there are other players that could have better defensive versatility and mobility than him despite how well he moves for a 7 footer.

We just lost to a Pacers' team that slowed down KAT this last game by putting Siakam on him instead of a traditional center like Turner who KAT was eating alive. On the flip side Mitch was struggling to keep up with the pace of the game whether it was getting back in transition or getting back to their shooters after trying to help at the rim. I would attempt to sell high on Mitch while he is still healthy and has some of the playoff hype around him.

I don't think Josh is getting traded.

Getting Suggs to pair with Brunson is an intriguing idea. That's exactly what we need

Memphis apparently wants to change it up. Bridges still has strong value and was misused here. KAT finished top 10 in mvp even with the warts and is not a great fit with Brunson(from a defensive standpoint)

It doesnt have to be a 3 way but this would be a dream scenario to get Divo back as well:

3 way trade with Memphis, Minny, and New York:

Knicks outgoing:
KAT (53.1)
Bridges (24.9)
McBride (4.3)
PJ Tuck (3.5)
Kolek (2.2)
Dadiet (2.8)
3 2nd round picks

Memphis outgoing:
JJJ (23.4)
Bane (36.7)
Clarke (12.5)
Konchar (6.1)

Minny outgoing:
Donte DiVencenzo (11.9)
Jaylen Clark (2.1)

‐------‐------------------------

Knicks incoming:
JJJ (23.4)
Bane (36.7)
Donte DiVencenzo (11.9)

Memphis incoming:
KAT (53.1)
Bridges (24.9)
Jaylen Clark (2.1)
2 NY 2nd round pick

Minny incoming:
McBride (4.3)
PJ Tuck (3.5)
Kolek (2.2)
Dadiet (2.8)
NY 2nd round pick

JJJ/Mitch
OG/JJJ
Hart/OG
Bane/Divo
Brunson/Divo/Wright

The Knicks overpaid for Bridges, and now they're stuck with him. Teams around the league can see the drop-off in him at age 28.

OG for Bane could make sense.

Bane is better suited as a secondary ball handler and knock down shooter. Bridges moves back to his natural SF role. We do lose our best defender in Anunoby, but clear some room under the 2nd apron to round out the roster and preserve the Precious Achiuwa bird rights as an asset to exceed the apron in future years.

Brunson/Bane/Bridges/Towns/Robinson
McBride/Hart/Tax MLE/Precious ($3mm)
Kolek/Dadiet/Huckporti
2 vet minimums

+/- $1.2mm of wiggle room under the apron for a buyout guy.

The fit, including moving Bridges to a different role, just might be better.

The Knicks aren’t getting back the high variance picks they owe Brooklyn or the volume of picks they sent out - but Bridges still has positive value.

Need to find a deal for Hart too…

Send Hart to the Clippers for Bogdanovic. $3 million cheaper, can shoot, same effort on defense.

But why would the Clippers trade a cheaper, better shooter with the same effort on defense for Hart?

Hart is younger, locked into his contract a year longer and won’t take touches away from Harden and Kawhi. Maybe as insurance if Powell leaves in free agency.

KD, Beal and Grayson Allen for KAT, Bridges and Mitch works in the trade machine IF Beal waives his NT clause.

Gives us a wash with KD/KAT (probably a bit better D), a 40% three point shooter and a guy who should be able to get his own shot (Beal) in our sluggish iso offense.

We lose Mitch's 20mpg for 40 games, but at this point, why not. Not like he'll go uninjured next year.

I don’t know if KAT is used to get a star or to fix holes on the roster.

I also think the Pelicans are the best team to work with to get a three team trade done. They really want to get good because a new FO is in place. Also honestly outside of Zion and maybe Murphy no one on that roster should be off the table for a trade.

Knicks trade: KAT, McBride, Kolek, Padiet
Knicks get: Suggs, Herb Jones, Yves Missi,

Orlando trade: Suggs, three second rounders
Orlando get: McCollum, McBride, Indy 2026 1st round pick

Pelicans trade: Herb Jones, Yves Missi, 2026 Indy 1st round pick
Pelican get: KAT, Dadiet, Kolek

Knicks get under the cap and send the second draft picks and the NTPMLE to the Wolves for DDV

Knicks roster:
Brunson/Suggs
Suggs/DDV
Bridges/Hart
OG/Herb Jones
Mitch/Missi/Huk

Pelicans do it for KAT and to improve into a playoff team. Orlando does it to save money in 2027 when Paolo’s max kicks in and to get back court scoring. McCollum opens the floor for them now, and McBride is a defensive guard that can play a little point

Knicks get a back up PG/second ball handler, get 48 minutes of defense, and another defender in Herb Jones. DDV comes back to be a scorer. They could also instead of trading for DDV see if they could get Bobby Portis for a NTPMLE trade as a salary dump for the bucks

Knicks roster:
Brunson/Suggs
Suggs/Hart
Bridges/Herb Jones
OG/Portis
Mitch/Missi/Huk

It doesnt have to be a 3 way but this would be a dream scenario to get Divo back as well:

3 way trade with Memphis, Minny, and New York:

*Salary matching under new CBA lines up or is very close (salaries in parenthesis)

Knicks outgoing:
KAT (53.1)
Bridges (24.9)
McBride (4.3)
PJ Tuck (3.5)
Kolek (2.2)
Dadiet (2.8)
3 2nd round picks

Memphis outgoing:
JJJ (23.4)
Bane (36.7)
Clarke (12.5)
Konchar (6.1)

Minny outgoing:
Donte DiVencenzo (11.9)
Jaylen Clark (2.1)

‐------‐------------------------

Knicks incoming:
JJJ (23.4M)
Bane (36.7)
Donte DiVencenzo (11.9)

Memphis incoming:
KAT (53.1M)
Bridges (24.9)
Jaylen Clark (2.1)
2 NY 2nd round pick

Minny incoming:
McBride (4.3M)
PJ Tuck (3.5)
Kolek (2.2)
Dadiet (2.8)
NY 2nd round pick

Rotation(minutes):
JJJ(20)/Mitch(22)/Huk(6)
OG(28)/JJJ(12)/Hart(8)
Hart(20)/Bane(15)/OG(5)/Shamet(8)
Bane(18)/Divo(25)/Shamet(5)
Brunson(33)/Divo(5)/Wright(10)

Rebounding/big defense lineup:
Mitch
JJJ
OG
Hart/Bane
Brunson/Divo/Wright

Scoring lineup:
JJJ
OG
Bane
Divo/Hart
Brunson/Wright

Small defense lineup:
JJJ
OG
Hart
Bane
Divo/Wright/Brunson

These lineups match up so much better vs Celts and Pacers. Think how much better the switching defense would be vs Carlisles matchup hunting offense. 90% of the time when KAT and Brunson were out there they screened and then got a the matchup they wanted and attacked either of those players. They ran them ragged.
