Re: OT: NFL 25 Draft and Beyond Thread
The Gmen have a lot of problems we knew about prior to the season starting (e.g., offensive line stinks). The one supposed bright spot was one I predicted would not be a bright spot - the D line. It's a good pass rushing line (and will look even better when it faces a less mobile QB). However, when the opponent is not forced to pass because they have 2nd and 2 or third and 3, it doesn't matter that it's a good pass rushing line. Bottom line: if you can't stop the run, you don't get to pass rush.

honestly, if we get like the #2 pick and we can swing like 3 first round picks out of it, we take it and run with dart
Correct, I'm not drafting a QB in the 1st round next year. Dart gets some time to prove he is or isn't the guy. Preseason is preseason but he showed something. So he will get a shot to run the team. And because our talent doesn't seem to be up to par. This would be our first time in a while using a top pick to trade down and parlay it into multiple impact players could be huge.
Because ideally you have DJ dead cap coming off the books next year (20 MM). You they will cut Bobby Okereke/Runyun/ and a few others saving probably close to 50 MM in cap space. Then you have a rookie QB in Dart on the cap...and can make some big FA splashes and then use multiple high draft picks from a potential trade down to draft OL, interior DL, and more weapons and playmakers on offense and defense.
The time to strike in terms of a the cap would be next year with having such small amount of cap tied up in a QB. The question is for being such a huge offseason nothing has showed me that Daboll/Schoen deserve the next year to decide that crucial offseason.
I don't think the next GM is going to hitch his wagon to Dart.
Mara is going to pick a GM that is. That is what I'm trying to tell you.

The defense gave up 21 points against a very good offense. If we had any offense at all it would’ve been less. Terrible misstep bringing back the same group at oline.

They also gave up 220 yards on the ground and if it wasn't for the Commanders shooting themselves in the foot early in the game missed a wide open deep ball to McLaurin and the end of half grounding that cost them pts...it could have easily been +30 pts and a disaster game from the defense.
There were a couple bright spots like Burns and some stuff from Carter....but Okereke looks cooked.
Overall the defense performance looked better pts wise then it actually was.

Re: OT: NFL 25 Draft and Beyond Thread
It’s obvious that Schoen and Daboll are terrible but I really didn’t think the team would look the exact same as last years team. They did add a bunch of nfl level talent through the draft and free agency that it would look somewhat better. Maybe I just fell for the good vibes in training camp but how could it possibly be the exact same?

so the giants got dominated at the LOS on both sides of the ball (outside of maybe the giants DL pass rush against the Commanders). But the run defense sucked. And the offensive line was brutal. I think Wilson was pressured on over 50% of his snaps (which is a wild %). And they couldn't run the ball for **** so we became pretty one dimensional.
Look if you continue to lose the LOS its tough to do anything. With Andrew Thomas out look at the offensive line
Hudson (bad LT)
Runyon (mediocre at best but probabaly below avg guard)
JMS (awful center)
Van Roten (awful guard)
Eluemunor (avg right tackle)
I mean we are probably only avg at one spot on the offensive line (its the same group as last year) and we know if we don't have Andrew Thomas what that does to the o-line.
And the only way to compensate for getting destroyed at the line of scrimmage is having an elite QB that can get out of trouble which we don't have.
They brought back 10 of the 11 starters on offense (a disaster of an offense). Did anyone think from going from Daniel Jones to Russell Wilson was that much of an upgrade? Especially now with Thomas not playing?

basically unless two things happen. Dart is legit good. And they find someone that can fix the o-line. Every year its the same sh*t with the offensive line. And the only good one on the offensive line is made of glass an barely plays.

Every year Schoen has be supposedly adding "NFL" talent to this roster and we still suck. He is also in the top percentile of the NFL in offseason spending since he been here. Not sure why this year was supposed to be different. He had three tries before this year and failed every year.
To be Honest..... our most talented team that we had was the one Getty Left Schoen.

Dude really sucks.

Mara going to FAFO.
This is not the Knicks. Only the Knicks could have sucked for 20 years and still sell out the Garden.
Giants Fans are not Knick fans. They will stop showing up to the stadium.
Regardless if I wanted Dart or not. Limiting your gm/coaching search to who wants to work with a first year rookie (unless he sets the world on fire) is the definition of the same ol schit.
If Mara gets it wrong for the franchise on the next hire again, the Giants will be in the darkest of places cause it means we have another 3 more years before we start over again.smh.

He’s so bad. It’s crazy to think it’s year 4 of his regime and the 2 best players on the roster are still Lawrence and Thomas. Let’s hope that Carter can at least get on their level but with Schoen track record, I’m not getting my hopes up. You really can’t recover after completely whiffing on your first 2 drafts. When we go 0-4 they should fire him and tear this thing down to the studs. Keep Dart and Carter and just trade everything else. Full fire sale. Collect as many picks as possible and give a new GM a blank slate to build out the roster.

yeah, there's always a whole lot of "joe schoen masterclass" talk in here every offseason with every move we make for some reason and i can't understand it.
if things continue like last year hopefully he gets fired

We can literally trade Dart for assets if a new GM wants to draft his own QB...if Mara does this, he is an even bigger moron than I thought.
I actually want to see what we have in Dart, so I'm not on board with trading him but I don't want him to be thrown to the wolves to save these idiots' jobs or have a new GM be hired because of him.
God this team gives us absolutely nothing. No hope, no joy. Nothing but depression

Re: OT: NFL 25 Draft and Beyond Thread
We spent 10 million on a QB we DIDN'T need. JW was enough of a stop gap. This dude Schoen just likes spending. I wont even blame him to much cause Mara retained him, then put a mandate out. SMH.
As much as Schoen and Daboll are to blame. This seasons garbage STARTS with Mara cause he retained them.

Nope

But I expected to see some improvement. What we saw on Sunday was literally the same crap we've seen the last three years.
Like the more I go over the game the more I realize how lucky we were not to be blown out 35+ points to 6. Like yeah we were hanging on but Washington did themselves no favors.
Garbage run blocking. Awful pass pro. Defense got gutted up the middle. Linebackers played like dog sh*t. 2 red zone trips resulting in 6 points
Nothing has changed. I watched Bobby Skinner's OL breakdown and it didn't matter if AT was playing or not. These guys all look lost.
When the best blocking down of the game was performed by a rookie RB that reeks of breast milk, we have a serious problem.
If we get smacked by Dallas things are gonna get ugly. Nabers having a melt down already in Week 1 is a horrible sign.
If they fire Daboll mid season, so be it. He is the constant and he has no whipping boy to save his ass this year.

And yes, if Daniel Jones continues looking like a competent QB in Indianapolis, everyone should be fired.
And until that horse sh*t line gets it's act together, I'm not in favor of putting Dart out there just to save anyone's jobs. Let them sink
