amare plus melo = almost guranteed mediocrity? :D

These two guys can explode on any given night on their own right now. I think this could be just too much offense to defend, ever thought of sth. like that?

Sure u need the right players, but i think this could be very dangerous. And for the fact that both guys can go off on anybody for 40+ on any given night, u can beat any Team in the NBA.

Im all for it.
im bout dat action boss

Carmelo Anthony is a BEAST! If they can get him, they need to go head and get him! I expect him to be wearing Orange & Blue by the end of next week!

So you'd be willing to risk a change at a championship in favor of almost guaranteed mediocrity?

I think the Hawks comparison is good. We could get to that level and be stuck at it, but even the Hawks have Horford and good parts like Josh Smith. I think we'd be potentially much worse than that.

A gutted roster with Amar'e and Melo strikes me as a recipe for a possible disaster. Neither Melo nor Amar'e is complete enough as players to carry that team to greatness, and it could fall into the abyss a la Marbury.

So KG, what method do you recommend to getting to greatness other than getting Melo. I think this is the closest we could EVER get.
How else would the Knicks have arguably 2 of the TOP TEN PLAYERS IN THE NBA. 2 ALL STAR STARTERS!

I understand, yes we need role players but theyll come. Look at Miami. Yes right now there lacking depth. Give them the offseason, im sure theyll be able to get a center to take a discount and join them. It will happen eventually but you have to make sure you have the the foundation of a Great team and that starts with Great Players.

Amare and Melo are both better players than anybody the Hawks Have

Lebron makes role players better. Melo and Amare don't. Hence, we need actual depth.

If no Melo what is plan B? I don't want to make a trade just to make a trade at the deadline. Unless they can get a decent big man in return. I don't want Pryzbilla, his offense is worse than Turiaf's and his injuries has slowed him down also. Not the same defensive player he once was. Give AR a chance.

Anyone who thinks that Melo and Amare make us contenders are delusional. Certianly not if we gut the roster for Melo.

I don't care how many points they score, they'll give up an equal amount without help on the defensive side. What happens when they aren't on the floor? Do we just accept a 10-0 run?

People are way too obsessed with star power and offense. What we need is balance. It is good to have guys who can drop 40, but there are plenty of times where it will be defense that wins games, and neither of those players are going to help in that.

Anyone who thinks they suddenly become good defensive players because there is a coaching change is also beyond help.

Being able to beat and other team is worthless. Any team in the league can beat any other team. What you want is consistency, and pairing two iso scorers together and thinking they'll be able to score at will and actually win games against real teams in the playoffs is just not realistic.

1) Dalembert for Curry + Cash
2) Randolph for back-up PG on expiring contract
3) Turiaf for expiring
4) our 2011 1st rounder traded out for a 2012 or 2013 1st (in the summer)
5) Earl Barron

that or something like that is plan B imo. improve the team's playoff chances this season while shedding '11 salaries to ensure space to offer 'Melo the max.

I think AR will be moved by the deadline, if no first rounder than AR for Ridnour. And then they waive Curry or trade him and sign Earl Barron.

We're not adding Salary without locking up all ends on the Melo front (or Centers in Free Agency).

So did SAS say anything interesting or is he still screaming for Donnie's head for not offering Fields and Gallo?

Something about A-Rod only using steroids through September and not in October

Just caught the tail end of that conversation

well to be fair we don't know what kind of synergy Carmar'e will have together once they start getting familiar with one another. Maybe Melo will be more willing to give up the ball to STAT knowing he'll be wide open 90% of the time once he drives and draws the double. I'm willing to take that risk any day.

So am I, but let's not pretend Melo will become a playmaker all of a sudden. It is not in his skillset.

maybe in D'antoni's system he'll learn to share the ball. You have to if you want it to be successful. Never know. *shrug*
