u really dont think he woulda said the same thing if you replaced nets with knicks? all that was was him being funny in avoiding giving a straight answer no matter the team.

What is this "as long as the Knicks are in the race" bullsh*t?

Melo decides who is in the race.

Yes but who is the real fool. Is it the fool or the man that wants to compete with the fool. I doubt Dolan understands that though. -Jitpal

Could be real short honeymoon for Melo here.

Kind of feeling that Melo left NYC before his formative years and doesn't understand NYC.

He could be greeted as a hero. If Knicks give up 3/4's team and overpay and the general consensus is Knick's gave up so much because Melo got greedy and weak, then he'll be greeted with nothing but HUGE expectations and venom when it doesn't go smoothly, which of course things never do.

If you trade 3/4s of the team. It's ECF or bust. No joke. If we have to deal Gallo, Fields, Felton for Melo, he better carry this team to the ECF. -Jitpal

if you dont trade for him, then said players also better carry this team deeper than he can

I wouldnt mind that, but we'd need another rotation player back from them, maybe Birdman, he'd fill a role and his contract isnt too pricey.
Trust but verify.

Their was probably an agreement between Denver and Melo that if we take care of you (trade you where you want and will sign) you take care of us (help us get the best deal). He could've told Denver long ago that he would only sign if he's traded to NY and Denver in no way wants that to get out and at the same time he has no real incentive to say it publicly if he's made it clear to them.

I wonder how effective Chauncey Billups will be if he is part of this deal. Phantom or nursing injuries? :D In fact, I thought I read that Chauncey wants a buy-out if dealt so he can go back to DEN.

I wonder how Melo feels about taking Billups from his family with him to NJ; I thought he stated before that he was aware, concerned, and felt bad about the collateral damage of his situation.

I guess that's a formal end to his "I'm not afraid to go to free agency" stance.

Damn he's caving big time isn't he.

he wants his money, cant blame him

he gave ny 7 months to get the deal done, ny couldnt....name me one other star who gave ny that long to get the deal done...lebron? no, wade? no, webber in the early 2000s? no....no other player has given this much time

Yes, but the guy wants his extension too. For that to happen, he needs another competitor to push the Knicks, otherwise, he doesn't think Walsh will seriously negotiate because he thinks he can get him as a FA.

There has always been a conflict of interest here because Melo doesn't want to wait will FA. I think he has made that clear the past week or so.

Again guys, enough with the "I can't believe we are going to lose Melo over Gallo" stuff. It depends on what the rest of the offer is... if the offer is Chandler, fields, Felton and Mozgov, are you really willing to give up Gallo too?

We don't know what the current offer is, so we can't really comment on how smart it would be to add Gallo.
