Mr Rabbit wrote:Can Bosh even get $96 million over 4 years? I thought since he took a paycut with Miami he couldn't get as much as Melo as a free agent?

That's actually an interesting point. Let's see...

Salary basis -- Bosh made $19.067 million last season.
Years of service -- Bosh has been in the NBA for 11 seasons so he's in the 10+ range (all players having been paid 10 or more years in the NBA falls in the 10+ category).

Max 1st year salary calculated by 35% of cap -- assuming that the salary cap for 2014-2015 is not significantly more than 2013-2014 then the max starting salary is going to be about $19.2 million.
Max 1st year salary calculated by 105% of players last salary -- 105% of 19.067 million = $20.02035 million.

So assuming we are basing the 1st year contract on the higher of the 2 numbers then we're talking about a 1st year contract of $20.02 million.

Now the max the Rockets can offer in terms of raises is 4.5%. Over the 4 years it would be the following:

Year 1 - $20,020,350
Year 2 - $20,020,350 x 1.045 = $20,921,266
Year 3 - $20,021,266 x 1.045 = $21,862,723
Year 4 - $21,862,722 x 1.045 = $22,846,545
===
Total about 4 years $86 million.

So unless my calculation is off (maybe it is who knows) then somethings not right.

It effectively takes them out of the running to sign any free agents other than their own.

You cannot lost Bosh, then sign Melo, and then use the MLE and BAE.

I'm fairly certain IF Bosh or James sighed elsewhere, whatever deals you had with McRobert would then get converted into the cap space you created, taking that cap space away.

looks like it

D. Harris
Monta Ellis
Chandler Parsons
Dirk Nowitzki
Tyson Chandler

Yo...That's a pretty damn good Mavs team bro.

Wright/Vince/Marion/Felton ain't nothing to sneeze at off the bench either.
What do I care...it's rigged anyway

Free agent Danny Granger has agreed to a two-year, $4.2 million deal with the Miami Heat, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Now that's an interesting pickup. I'm not sure what his body can do on the court, though. Between he and Oden, they'll form an All-Sympathy Team.

Guys who have played a at a high level and can offer me help in their new roles? The heat are re-upping on younger role players before resigning their stars.

so who is accounting for wade being pretty much toast and bosh being a glorified role player?

I mean if you bron are you really looking yourself into a 3-4 year deal there because they signed mcboob and that dead corpse granger?

I might come back for 1 year with a out clause but really?

How much money offered and how long does Parsons have to make a decision?

Remember, you can't actually sign an offer sheet until the 10th.

I would assume the offer sheet would be for Parson's max.

I'd like a 30 minute piece on how Steve Schirripa became a Knicks fan. That man looks like he's lived an interesting life.

Heat coming back under the best circumstances for us -- some decent tweaks but minor.

Better depth though. But those 2 guys, Bron and Wade, didn't give up any money.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this indicates that Wade and Bosh were not okay giving up any money. Or at least not enough to make it worthwhile.

Unless I'm missing something, the opt-outs of Wade and Bosh didn't lead to anything? As if they didn't opt out at all.

The numbers aren't out there yet. No idea if there is a deadline on the deal.

I'd like a documentary on how Herb Williams managed to hang onto his job all those years.

Now if the big 3 come back but LeBron only signs for 2 year with ETO, we may have something.

Assuming that Melo is reupping with us

Too early to tell.

But IF McRoberts and Granger are indeed signed for the full MLE and BAE, then yes, no one would have any incentive not to give Wade and Bosh their max's.
