Jokic shot 46% on threes on 3.8 attempts a game when they won the title. A team with strictly a rim runner hasn't won the title in almost a decade, the last one was the Cavs with Tristan Thompson. The only strictly interior big to win since then is Looney, and he does DHO outside the 3 point line and Draymond is their crunchtime center.
You don't win with do nothing bigs now, the Mavs learned that the hard way, so much so they've got the same old story with Lively "he's been working on his three".
Brunson, Bridges, OG, Towns is elite spacing. I think the Knicks are in the championship conversation.
They are, and they still have the option to play big with a C next to Towns. The talk in here reminds me of when we didn't get Donovan Mitchell and the sky was falling.

Over the summer?
Divo is actually a really poor defender...he is good at steals but gambles way too much.
Giving those minutes to Duece should improve our perimeter defense.
I don't really have a moment to check stats, but wasn't Deuce getting cooked more so than DDV in the Indiana series?
For some reason McConnell is Deuce's kryptonite...the one small guard in the league he can't cover.

If I’m building a team from scratch I start with a combo of an elite playmaking pg & center who can play like a guard… both 3-level scorers. I follow that up with two elite versatile 3&D wings who are legit 3rd & 4th options… at least one of which can step into the 2nd option role in the event of an injury.
Jalen, Mikal, OG, Towns fit that foundation perfectly. Would it be nice to have Joker or Embiid instead of Towns? Sure, but that’s life.
We still have Mitch, Hart, and Deuce with Thibs’ defense… I think we’re gunna be ok defensively.
The Celtics didn't copy anyone. They're literally just "good stuff". They have a starting 5 of 3 All NBA caliber players, and 2 All Stars with 4 All Defense level players and one guy that's still a good defender. Lightning in a bottle. Attempting to copy them means somehow acquiring 5 top 50 players (I have Tatum ranked 8th, Brown 30th, KP 33rd, Jrue 43rd, and White 46th). Oh and also the worst shooter of the bunch is Jaylen Brown who's a career 35.4% shooter (35.6 in the playoffs) and a career 69th percentile spot up shooter (1.09 ppp). That's elite half court offense. If they get the advantage good defense still leaves them with a shot that's that good.
The issue with us compared to them is defense. We have 2 weak links in our starting 5 on that end. One is the PG and the other is the C. There's no easier pairing to exploit. If we keep Mitch and KAT plays PF in the playoffs we can defend around it. Jrue-Tatum screening actions isn't super common.
I will say talent wise Jalen Brunson+KAT isn't far from Tatum+JB, but neither is Brunson+Randle. The fit is the difference. Those two can both shoot and defend. I guess their ball handling is an issue, but they do so little iso at this point it's hard to exploit like in 2022.
That's why to me I liked the idea of grinding them down and creating extra possessions against them. We know KP can't rebound. Attack their biggest weakness as a squad.

League avg top of the key 3's is around 35% and KAT destroys those avgs.
Having a big that is elite from the top of the key will be such a nightmare to defend for opposing teams.
And OG has monster numbers on CORNER 3s. Bridges can hit from a high clip there too.
New reality of Son ship!

It has been a clown show
They'll all disappear from the PG threads when KAT goes off. Complimenting him when he does well and leads us to victory would be too much for their pride. A predictable pack of jackals
I'm done with the crow talk too. If you're spending the first few days of KAT's tenure crapping down his throat, please spare us the "I was so wrong about KAT" posts in the future. Just F Off already. This FO has done an incredible job and I'm here for it

Re: KAT To The Knicks Part 2
The Knicks got to the 2nd seed and 1 game of the ecf last year without Randle playing since January. This trade is essentially swapping Divo and Ihart for Bridges and KAT from that playoff roster. How much better would that team be with KAT instead of Ihart might be the more relevant comparison.

I really wish we just played it out to the TDL. This is scary balls change at the last minute out of nowhere insanity.
It's almost like how Trump felt when they did the switcheroo from Biden to Kamala!
I was all prepared for a healthy run back plus Mikal!! This is a lot to take in. Look around this place!!

They would say absolutely nothing and/or keep it brief. This argument on "WhAt ThEy GoNnA sAy" is weak. Do they got to tattoo his name on their forearm??? I mean, if we take Josh at face value -- which we all should because he seems fairly straightforward -- we know how he really feels about Randle. Same with DDV. The way Robinson pouts, I bet you 100 bucks if there was something to Randle's locker room presence, it'd have gotten out by now.
If you say so. I know Thibs is obsessed with defense and effort. I know Randle's effort on the defensive end can be absolutely terrible at times. I don't think I have heard Thibs say anything negative about his defense ever. Does that mean he is ok with Randle's defense because publicly he does nothing but praise him? No. They are just words.“Tell your dad we want him to play defense in the All-Star Game”.
That was the criticism you could find? A joke with his son about playing defense in a game where no one plays defense?

Not a weak links IMO because 9 times out of ten they will outscore their opponent.

whichin theory makes him a great fit here offensively with OG and Mikal are +40% 3 point shooters from the corner. We are going to be a tough **** matchup with Brunson putting pressure in the mid range and rim with his floater.
MIkal and KAT are also pretty good in the mid range as well. OG wasn't half bad with his middy last year as well. That plays up in the playoffs when teams try to take away your strength and give up mid ranges for free.
