I remember reading that somewhere too. I'm glad Donnie is not allowing these thugs to waltz on in here. This franchise has pride and history unlike the Nets.

so then he shouldnt have tried for lebron either?

Im sorry I hate these d bags just as much, but they are a player in the league now and if you want stars more than likely you will have to deal with this agency at one point or another...isnt chris paul their client too?

if we trust Wojo now then what i wrote a few days ago is true

Ujiri had the trade on the table. He got the best value out of any Melo deal. Denver is operating on no assumptions about melo. Only that he doesn't want to sign an extension with denver. or else-- if Denver approaches Melo with an ultimatum, and Melo comes back and actually outright tells them Knicks or bust-- then denver loses any leverage left. So denver would rather avoid that confrontation, villainize melo in the process when he eventually rejects a njn deal.

but-- what does melo have to gain from this? he said that he wants to keep his options open and that he will make his family happy. those are the only 2 things he's said about this whole ordeal. if its true-- that he has never told anyone that he would sign in NJ, then I have to assume that sheridan's report isn't 100% accurate in that melo has told the denver FO that he'll only sign with the knicks. Just doesnt make sense given how this whole thing played out. My only guess is that Melo is 100% prepared to go to FA. or else, he wouldve already given the FO a wishlist given how close we are to the deadline.

So Kroenke saw the deal, they were taking on a little more money with the guys from NJ combined with the fact that swapping Harris for Batum wasn't a given he balked. He doesnt want to be stuck up the luxury tax with decent young PG, but that team is so far away competing even with harris/favors that Kroenke wants to do a full on rebuild.

so conceivably, i can now see njn balking because if denver wants to get rid of guys like harrington, nene, birdman, balkman then it would hamper their ability to sign cp3-- presumably, their ace in the hole for getting melo to go to nj.

i can see how the nets get tired of getting more teams involved-- because if what denver says is true, we gotta unload al harrington, birdman, etc.. it gets universally harder to placate every extra team involved in the fold.

i think those guys know they can't run the knicks. the nets will give them a lot more control there. it's sad like wojo says that melo is a pawn in all this.

so this revelation that the nuggets have to dump salary is actually a good one for the knicks.

we have tons of expirings, and guys like turiaf, moz who can match salaries with birdman, balkman, and harrington.

Wojina released an article. Blames this all on different agendas of the NBA, Agents, and Superstars

at the end says "Melo will end up a Net"

This is sorta OT but

Recently when speaking to the media, Johnson was asked if he dreamed about the possibility of having Carmelo Anthony. Johnson said, "No, I dream about our starting center getting 10 rebounds."

yep thats the one.. thanks
Which brings us to the next and equally important factor: Any team that gives up multiple players and other assets for Anthony, while also giving him the $65 million extension he covets, will be in effect, turning the franchise over to him -- and, by extension, to Creative Artists Agency powerbroker William "World Wide Wes" Wesley.

"When you give up your whole team to get a guy, you're at his mercy," the person said. "And you bring in Wes, who then thinks he can run your team. None of that is very appealing."

It is a risk that the Nets, desperate for a star to usher them into their new home in Brooklyn in 2012, are justifiably willing to take -- but one that the Knicks do not have to take.

Gotta love Avery Johnson. I never want to have to work for the guy, but it's fun to read when it happens to others. (He's 100% right too)

ugh this stuff is so frustrating. When did the carmelo rumours begin to swirl? What has happened since then...nothing. I don't understand why all these rumours and stuff come out and why people care about them so much...

In my perfect world, we hear about a trade or signing when it happens...no need for months and months of pointless speculation

When your "prized, untouchable" 7 foot center averages less than 6 rebounds per game, you can understand where he is coming from. Still, this is the next Tim Duncan right? Yes...I'm kidding. Still, NJ's assets are undoubtedly better than ours, you have an "all star" point guard in Devin Harris who lead last years Nets team to 12 wins, the aforementioned Lopez, and their "franchise level" rookie who will finish well below our 2nd round pick in ROY voting.

We should expect Brook Lopez to want out of NJ, not because there is a video of him cursing out his coach or his coach dogging him in the press, but because it's not a real team, and I'm sure he'd like to play in the NBA before he retires.

This could explain why these guys are steering players away from the knicks. Forget Walsh. No one on this earth is going to tell Dolan what to do. Those dudes try to call shots in NYC through the knicks and the closest they will get to the team is a sports bar 4 blocks away.

i agree with you, but i can't help but chuckle when, even after all anucha and isiah and LB and people calling for his head as a bad owner, at the end of the day he's still the man willing to spend, and still the man in charge and ironically our last line of defense against purported manipulations by Wes "lebron cast me out of his inner circle" Wesley
