Amare and Shumpert for Pau

Yeah, let us squeeze our window to win from 3, maybe 4 seasons down to 2 seasons. And while you're at it let's give away our only SG who happen to have good potential, is one of our only bright spots of the future, and is on a 4yr deal for less than 2 mil a year because once we get Pau we can get an even older player in Nash & draft a rookie SG in the draft (oh wait...) or we can let TD & Fields still rotate at the SG spot. Yep, that's what we want.

We all agree the Shump part is a no go, but Pau for Amar'e doesn't dwindle the team chances of winning at all, it increases the next two years chances, and Pau's deal is 1 year shorter anyway.

I'd do a straight up swap immediately.

I would actually think about that trade if we got another lakers piece back too (one of the rookies or mcroberts). i would love to get pau or luis scola, but my problem with those guys is they are old. this is why i would focus on bargnani.

bargs is interesting, not too sure if TO would trade him though. but a **** stretch 4/5 on this team would create so much **** space, man. i think bargs makes like 10 mill a year so I'm not sure how to make salaries work.

Pau Gasol is playng like absolute garbage for LAL. He is 3yrs older and is not as good of a player as Amare. He has a much better post game but amare is much more athletic and better finisher and when Baron comes back should be much more efficient. Remember Amare is still averaging like 20 a game. He isnt Rashard Lewis'ng us.

Gasol's a superior player and his game ages better. He's not playing worse. Kobe's chucking so there's less shots for everyone. He's shooting 53% compared to Amare's 40%. HUGE difference. And Gasol can score on his own on the post. Amare has no such skill.

I actually think Toronto WOULD do that deal.

yeah, stat and toney for bargs and calderon works. even then we'd be able to sign nash to the vet min next year right?

a calde/nash pg rotation would be pretty good. they'e both pedestrian defenders, but its better then not having a pg.

even better i say. i know people don't like bargnani because he is considered a bust for a first pick, but i think getting him would be an excellent decision. that would give us a front court of carmelo, bargnani, and tyson. that front court fits extremely well and is rather young too. i think in many ways a stretch four with a mid post game is the perfect player to put next to carmelo. either bargnani will force a big defender away from the basket or carmelo will be able to pass out of the post to bargnani who will be guarded by no one or a small defender. that would be the bread and butter, but bargnani can also play in the post and carmelo can play on the perimeter so they could switch off too.

also, bargnani gets a bit of a bad rep where people think he's channing frye. bargnani will actually post up from time to time (well so did frye his rookie season . . .).

I would trade Stoudemire for Gasol... no Shumpert. Even if it's just so I don't have to watch Amare's defense anymore.

Lakers might be the only team willing to trade for Amare because they seem determined to get rid of Pau and still want a star in return. Although I don't know how much sense having Shumpert back up Kobe would make, and he can't play PG either.

Amare, Toney, Landry for Pau, Darius Morris, Andrew Goudelock. That would be sweet.

Now that I'd do. I read that LA wants to trade Pau for depth if they can't get Dwight... This trade turns Pau into a PF that will play the same minutes (and is younger albeit with a bad injury history) AND 2 rotation players.

Pau is a much better fit next to Melo and knows how to play with a center so he'd probably fit with Tyson. That being said, Idk if he's mentally strong enough for NY.
