decline or in the transition stage of adapting to what he can do

amar'e is lucky he developed a mid range game and post moves after his first surgery instead of relying on lob passes(ala griffin)

it's like a pitcher who used to throw 96 mph gas but now throws 93 mph, he has to adapt to what they can now do.

i'm sure amar'e will find a way to be effective

What post moves? He had two nice hooks last night, that's it. If he's smart he will use that more.

Brand will at least give you defense. Jamison doesn't rely on his athleticism and would spread the floor. If we can get someone else back or a couple of 2nd rounders and manage to include Toney, yes. Lewis is a lazy bum, he can stay in Washington.

Concerned About Amare

Obviously this isn't a time to make any conclusions considering the circumstances but anyone here is right to be a little concerned with the lack of explosiveness couple with his horrendous defensive awareness

Before his tragedy, Amare was improving physically. He was starting to look much better then the beginning of the season.

He had some explosive dunks in this game but how quickly people forget

People have to remember that Amare wasn't able to do much over the summer because of the back. It takes awhile to fully recover and get your legs back from something like that. It takes more then a few weeks or month.

He has still lost a step, but can still be dangerous and a great pick n roll player. Just have some patience.

Yeah, unfortunately his D has always been poor no matter if he lost his step or not.

But if the Bulls can be a great defensive team with Curry at C or Boozer at PF, and if the Mavs can be a good defensive team with Dirk, the Knicks can be a good defensive team with Amare.

You can be a good/great defensive team even with a weak link. We have the defensive C to make that part work.

I also hated some of his picks. I don't know maybe it is the game strategy, but his picks are so weak compared to Chandler's picks. It creates no space for Lin. He always rushes inside to get his.

Been saying that since mid-January. He just looks a lil out of shape. Doesn't look like he's "lost it" to me.

Offensively Amare will be fine he's just shaking off some rust and conserving himself for the playoff...you know he always turns it up then. Defensively Amare needs to be attached at the hip with Jefferies. Neither of them need to practice offense (Jefferies should rarely shoot and Amare is always gonna be Amare), but Amare is a big weak link on simple defensive techiniques. He's not uncoordinated or unathletic so there is just no excuse why he cant do it. Pretty much the WHOLE entire team (besides guys that aren't capable i.e. Bibby, Walker, Novak, but at least they try) has bought into D we need him to also.

I think he'll be alright. That game last night had to be mentally trying. The promising facts are that he was a part of the fourth when our defense dominated and he had 3 big baskets in that quarter with Lin and Shump finding him. Pre-tragedy, he was playing much improved ball...so I wanna give him some time.

Thank you.

Since Lin arrival people think we don't need Stat or Melo. Stat had a great second half. Had more rebounds and than Chandler. Hit some big shots in the 4th. Remember these teams we beating a decent to good. But they are not great. And with championship aspirations with this team the Knicks need to be loaded.. and we got the Big 4. Free flowing offense and with a pitbull in melo to beast the defense that tries to kill our rhythm.

Yes Amare had a SHOCKING stat: He had a total of SEVEN of his shots blocked! Wow! BUT, with that said, this was his first day back---lotsa emotional baggage, I'm sure, and of course no game-type activity for a week. I can allow him this one odd performance, and presume as he gets back into game shape maybe his performances will improve. Let's give him a few games before we reach drastic conclusions.
Tanking again, I suppose. Is there any other way?

I'm not concerned about his physical abilities. I'm actually really encouraged by the timing of his return coming before Melo gets back. Should get him some time to establish himself with Lin and reestablish some confidence out there. Melo will get his points no matter, but Amar'e really needs to assert himself and play in sync with Lin to get his. Hopefully he'll have a nice couple games leading up to Sunday's Mavs game.

I'm excited to see what happens. He started getting a little bit of chemistry in the 4th quarter with lin. I'm going to the game tonight, so hopefully they just continue to build on that.

For someone who just lost a brother (some of you are just shocking and appalling with your dismissal of this), has been mentally unstable, and more than likely removed from basketball (and its demanding conditioning/ practice etc), to come back into the fast pace/high level demands of the NBA and score 21 pts and 9 reb. I think is damn good...i'm guessing many thought he should've dropped 40??? ...he's been having it pretty rough this season...i'm not jumping ship on Stat.

I wish that the guy would be more aggressive on the defensive side of the ball, and be much more selective on the offensive side.....Last night against the Raptors he got his shot blocked, something like, five times.... The primary reason for that, is that he has to face the basket to get a shot off, even when he is inside 5ft of it. The Raptors interior guys were swatting his shots like flies. He is getting paid too much money not to have a post game with his back towards the basket. As his athletic ability declines, as a result of weight gain or injury/age, he will NEED A POST GAME! IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR HIM, MAKING 100MILLION, NOT TO DEVELOP THAT, and to continue to hurt the team by shooting 30% from the field (with 20-25ft jumpers and barging in to get his shot blocked).

Greetings

I'm not concerned that much.

I do get disappointed when he get blocked as much as he did like last night. The old Amar'e would of smashed it down the rim.

But the dude has the mentality to come back from very serious injuries, micro-fracture knee surgery and detached retina. That is serious hard work there.

I feel he will put hard work into his other areas of his offensive game and team's chemistry.
