Love this. I hope he plays. Who here doesn't think that the Knicks have looked like a completely different team since pringles got sacked? Even despite the injures to Stat, Lin, and Jeffries (who, it amazes me to say, was a HUGE part of the Knicks success).

Bottom line, Michael Jordan ruined my childhood. It's easy for NBA analysts today to look back on the 90's and say that every year they knew Jordan's bulls were going to win it...well I didn't. Those were some hard years growing up learning the NBA.

But those years have taught me a few things...and from my POV I would love to see Chicago in the first round. Not as opposed to winning the atlantic and getting the 4 seed of course, but as opposed to facing Miami. I think its a recipe for disaster facing the Heat in the first round, with the amount of turnovers the Knicks commit and Miami's transition game...not to mention the injury issues that will assuredly still be present for the first round IF the Knicks make the playoffs.

All the same, Chicago does not scare me. (Grain of salt to be taken, in a 1v8 matchup vs Chicago, I couldn't BET on the Knicks to win, but I would not be surprised in the least if the Knicks pushed it 7 or pulled it off...remember '99?) Obviously the bulls play great defense and hit the boards, but from what I've seen of them they remind me of that kid that tries too hard in gym class...great regular season team, but when sh*t starts to get real and NBA athletes start giving it their all (let's be real, the majority of NBA teams don't give 100% every night of the regular season) I don't think the bulls can score consistently in the half-court. Remember in the ECF last year when Miami started defending Rose with Lebron? Where did the bulls offense go? Who can create shots on that team besides Rose? This year's upgrade is Rip Hamilton?? I wouldn't bet he could last a 7 game series without getting injured. Nothing against Rip, he was unbelievable for Detroit, but I just look at Chicago's roster and can't find any scoring.

I wouldn't be foolish enough to sit here and say I'd expect the Knicks to beat Chicago if they were to match up 1v8 in the playoffs. But I will say I'd feel much more confident playing the bulls than the heat. Regardless of any possible playoff preview on Sunday, I'd like to see Rose play. I know every game at this point is crucial, and that is part of the reason why I'd rather play Chicago with Rose than without him. It's put up or shut up time for the Knicks, our 'playoffs' have already begun. What better way to find out what the Knicks are made of than taking on the "best" team in the east at full strength.

And he's not going to be 100% and this is a great opportunity for us to send a message. We have to win at least one game and if we do, that's a bigger win for us than it is for them. They are supposed to crush the 8th seed.

Jeffries and Walker coming back would be nice, and I'm really not that threatened by Rose. I'm sure he'll have a great game but we've competed with the Bulls in the past, I think we can steal a game from them if we keep shooting the way we have been.

What's funny is if this team wins, chicago possibly gets pushed back to the 2 seed (meaning this club has a date with miami) and if chicago wins it pushes this club further out of the playoffs.

But, think about this relistically. With an Amare + Tyson + Jeffries + Melo frontcourt and with the 3 pt. shooting abilities of the Knicks roster, would you rather play Miami or Chicago in Rd. 1?

Miami's frontcourt and their perimeter defense are their worst problems. Those also happen to be Knicks best strengths.

At the end of the day, Woodson's Knicks are not a true 8th seed. Probably should be higher. So, yes, neither Miami nor Chicago wants to play you in Rd. 1.

But which team is the Knicks roster suited for? That to me is the key.

The problem with this logic is that our 3 point shooting is unreliable. Sure we can light it up on any given night like every other team but we have exactly 1 reliable 3 point shooter in Novak. If we're resorting to chucking 3's against Miami things are going to get ugly quick. The way you beat Miami is by forcing THEM to make outside shots, winning on the boards and keeping turnovers to an absolute minimum. The Bulls are a much easier matchup whether we have a healthy roster or not.

Thanks for your perspective; I think you have highlighted the main problem with the 3 point shot: Reliability.

In my mind, the probability of an upset vs. the Heat is higher than vs. the Bulls. The probability of being in every game and having a very close series is definitely higher against the Bulls.
