For the people saying business is business does loyalty not play a factor in business because last I checked it always did....

And seeing how that's the reason as to why we've been reluctant to sign him then my views on it have changed. Now I'm starting to wonder if we even re-sign now. I was very dismissive of the ideas of us declining his offer sheet yesterday because it made too much sense to bring him back but seeing these posts......

One of things you learn in covering #Knicks is you don't cross owner James Dolan. He is a very loyal guy but when disloyalty is shown, you are done with him. That may very well be case here with Jeremy Lin. It wasn't just the money, which was obscene in third year. As we have reported last couple of days, the renegotiation of an offer sheet that was agreed upon and leaked to press - after Woodson publicly said they'd match and he'd be starter - was a kick in gut to organization.

...makes me question things a bit now.

Even Hahn is talking as if Lin is gone.

WTF. Makes absolutely zero sense if this is true -- would just be emotional.

1. Lin isn't going to make MSG money, if the team is losing.

2.Also most championship teams have a veteran point guard, or at least one that has been in the league for a while. Doesn't matter if Lin has potential, Knicks don't have time for that. You aren't going to win with a young point guard.

3. Plus you don't set out the playoffs when your team could have use you. I'm sure the front office didn't like that. Melo played injured in the playoff last year and had to get surgery right after. That showed his heart and his competitiveness. Mostly all the big stars were injured in the playoffs and they still played. Wade was injured, Bosh was injured. Pierce was injured, Ray Allen was injured, Bynum was injured, etc.

It's a business. That particular blade cuts both ways.

I think Lin will be in a Rox uni on opening day. See ya, kid. Have a nice career.

You're right, it is a basketball business but Dolan isn't treating it that way. He's making it personal.

Financially and basketball wise it makes tons more sense to match him.

Dolan's fragile little ego got hurt and now he's ignoring the business aspect and throwing away a gift that fell right into our lap.

If Lin was active for the Knicks for the playoffs, we would have put up a tougher fight against the Heat.

If Felton was active for the Knicks for the playoffs, we would have been swept.

Meanwhile NY has the oldest team in the league. Have a nice 3rd year with 4 42 year olds.

Well You guys showed us that an old team can still be competitive...

Stunning Knicks age progression over last three seasons: In 2010-11 they were the 5th youngest team in franchise history with an average age of 24.6, which was also 7th youngest in NBA. Last season the team's average age was 26.5, with only three players over the age of 30 (not counting Dan Gadzuric, who appeared in one game). Right now, with 11 players following Felton/Thomas move and anticipating Prigioni signing, the team's average age? 31.4. Six of the 11 players will be 30 or older when the season opens.

If this happens I'm done with the Knicks, at least as long as Dolan is here.

It makes zero sense yet it will cost us 65 million over 3 years on a player who started 25 games.

They might tell Felton to gain another 50lbs and rub his sweaty rolls all over Lin during practice.

swb wrote:The knicks better match Lin's offer sheet. That's all I'm saying.

Why? The Knicks don't have to. If we match the offer, it'll be loud and clear that what we're trying to achieve is popularity, stocks and jersey sales over what's good and right for the team. There's a handful of point guards that are worth that contract in this league...and Jeremy Lin is not one. I'm a Linsanity fan. Trust me. And I dont blame him for getting more money. He deserves it but we need to do whats good for our team.

If we match him, that's fine too. Maybe we can use him first two years and trade him in the third? If we dont wanna pay that much. Our philosophy is Win Now. If Lin helps us in the first two years, great, if not, he can leave.

JLin would be great to have but if he's not here, we'll make it work with who we have. It won't be the end of the world. We need unselfish pgs and I think we have that in Kidd and Felton. Felton has something to prove...prove that when NY traded him that they were wrong. Prove that his last few stints were just temporary. I think he's gonna play harder than he did his first time around.

Whatever happens man, Let Go New York Knicks! I'm excited. I'm a fan of the team, not a player. 8-)

With all the hate directed at him from the NY sports media, there might be very few tears shed at the end of all this.

And what happens in three years when STAT is expiring and most likely shot, Carmelo still being the same player he has always been and Tyson Chandler starts drawing interest from teams that can actually compete while we enter a rebuilding period or mediocrity? Who are we building around? Shumpert? Keeping mind we only have two first-round picks the next four years too...

That is the truth though. I honestly almost want Lin to leave just so you can all see MSG stock doesn't drop at all.

I'm pretty sure the Knicks will match Houston's offer. He is too much of a cash cow not too match. The Knicks probably didn't appreciate the change in Houston's offer sheet which will cost the Knicks much more in luxury taxes. Trading for Felton is the Knicks message to Lin that they control his playing time and market value.
