There will probably be 20+ teams under the cap next offseason. There should be a lot of suitors at least if it comes to that.
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

Yes, because speculative trades proposals are frowned upon on the RealGM Knicks fotum.

Melo goes there, it takes 30 game to mesh with the team, and then they start winning. But they don't win enough to make the finals. Now Melo has done is "Melo-drama" twice and still isn't a winner. He is bright, so he knows there will be lots of pressure on him if he does this. Without a ring, he will be known only for forcing trades.
I think he wants to be remembered as a good guy who helped his team. So I'm not sure he is planning to force this issue. But of course, he and I would both like to see an amazing chemistry among him, RoLo, KP, KOQ, Afflalo, Grant, and an exciting run to the first or second round this year. Then, he wants to stay because we only need one more (right) part to contend.
If this doesn't work, and we stink this year, I wouldn't mind trading him to help rebuild.
Im going to be honest. And this comes from a good place im not hating on the guy. But I really dont think carmelo cares how he's remembered by fans. He's having a successful career. He's wealthy. He has a brand. A family. I dont think there is anything anyone can say to change his opinion of himself. Allot of great players didnt win it all. And he's still got plenty of time to do a ring chasing tour before its over,... if that matters to him. And even if it did, I dont think he is doing it to be remembered a certain way. That man dont care about what we think or how we feel about him.

That is why I think he will be here till the end of his contract. He really has no reason to leave NY when all of his business ventures are HQ'd here.
He's a businessman who plays basketball now IMO

p.s. not a judgement one way or the other on what would be best. just an observation.
If I were a bettin' man, I'd say they're both back next season.

I can definitely see this happening if we start with 15-22 or something.
Winslow, Deng and 2016, 2017 first wouldn't be bad

I agree he's a business man who plays basketball.
But I think he asks for a trade at some point. Mostly because I dont think its going to be any fun playing here for him anymore. Not with nagging media, booing fans. It wont be about what people are thinking about him. It will be about sour depressing work environment that aint fun. He can go some place else, win more games, make the playoffs, lose. And go about his business. Thats not happening in NY. Title expectations have been placed on him,.. and thats the bottom line. This environment will make him miserable. Lets be real too. Been a few players now that couldnt wait to get the hell out of here. And it wasnt because they felt like they were letting the people down.

Melo is 31 yrs old with fat contract. I wouldn't expect great package for him. Besides I can see Miami as preffered destination if he would want to leave NYK. Winslow is good prospect.

Personally, I think this whole concept is tiresome and aggravating. I also think it's aggravating Melo too to be seen like this.

His contract isn't that fat relative to the rising cap

Perhaps. I don't really see Melo asking out unless he's identified a perfect situation for himself both on and off the court.
I give some credence to the thought that Phil might be gone before Melo. Their timelines of evaluation are somewhat parallel.

Re: Clyde on Melo: "Will he ask out?"
I know we just speculating for the sake of conversation. But I think the heat would be a serious target for melo. And I really like that package for us too. For one because winslow is a decent prospect. And two,.. the chances of the heat having an injury riddled season sometime in the next few years are very high. So those picks are enticing. Its a trade that has a good karma feel to it.

Clyde on Melo: "Will he ask out?"
If Melo wants out Maybe knicks can try to trade him to the Heat for Whiteside, Winslow and Deng. But knicks need to keep melo

Seen like what? I don't think he wants to be on a non-playoff team for 3 consecutive seasons, so it would probably be in both his and our best interest for him to ask for a trade eventually. If he's healthy, and the team gets off to a good start, then there's no reason to ask out. But if we start off as bad as we were last year(and with Fisher as coach, it's entirely plausible), then he should start talking to Phil about the teams that he will waive his NTC for.

they can't even trade those picks.
cleveland has miami's 2016 top 10 protected, unprotected in 2017
the suns have the 2017 pick top 7 protected, unprotected in 2019
the suns also have the 2021 pick

And the guys who like Beal probably just saw a highlight or two and never watched him play. He's an undersized chucking, inefficient SG that can't defend. What exactly interests you either?
His FG% all three years has been **** terrible and that's with Wall getting him the ball where he wants it.
lol I like how you just assume that people haven't watched him play...

Please name a better player that can realistically come over in a package for Melo from a team that there's a chance he'd agree to be traded to
