You have a few points but I don’t think there is necessarily a “right” way. If there was, how would that account for teams like the Kings being perpetually bad despite lottery pick after pick? Good management/ownership is more of a variable in the success of a team despite where they pick. Take the Jazz for example. That is such a well run franchise and they are rarely amongst the NBA’s worst teams. As for the Knicks, Mudiay was worth the gamble for what we gave up. If you want to use the pg situation as an example than that would apply to Trey. It’s clear that nobody is really sure what Frank is yet. That’s more on Frank than it is the coach. Mitch gets all the minutes he can handle at this point. He cannot play without fouling at a high rate, but he’s getting minutes. Knox it’s entirely too early to tell being he was injured. But Knox will get every opportunity to start before the season is finished.

Similar to the Knicks, the Kings have sabotaged themselves many times. Outside of the 2018 NBA draft, the last time the Kings have drafted in top 3 was 1991, Billy Owens.

Look at their draft history, they've drafted better than the Knicks. WAY better.

At least they had the patience and guts to play the kids and go through the growing pains last year.

Paying dividends this year in many ways - including having one of the top picks performing ok.

They’re the King’s... Vlade will find a way to mess it up. And is it just me feeling salty about a team that had Demarcus Cousins and couldn’t build squat around him? I don’t think they deserve anymore lotto picks to ruin. They will fall back to earth and scoop up the guy we want this upcoming draft. Wait for it.

Some Knicks fans last year:

"Culchah is more important that being in a position to draft a stud and winning meaningless games accomplishes that. Give me THJ overpaying and vets over kids playing all day."

I'm saying you left a glaring omission and that he needed to be included in your list of rookies who can put up numbers. He's also the youngest guy among them.... Sorry for contradicting your narrative.

They were not selected with the Knicks pick, so NY’s inability to tank is moot.

Incorrect.

Your response defending where we picked is corroboration of the what I stated, not a contradiction.

And what does tanking have to do with a 2nd round pick and an unsigned kid??

Clearly, the “narrative” wasn’t grasped.

You didn’t answer the question:

Do you want Knox over all these guys? Simple yes or no.

Wrong.

I never said anything about where we picked  Knox's potential is right up there with everyone you listed. Why was he left off your list?

Nope not simple. We don't know who'll be the best players in 3 years . So in my OPINION Knox has as much potential as anybody on that list.

The Suns are horrendous. I don't think we even need to worry about the Suns, Cavs, Hawks, or Bulls anymore. And I think Brooklyn and Miami easily out tank us too. After we beat Brooklyn on Saturday that will solidify it. I'm thinking for us, 6th is the absolute ceiling and most likely closer to 10th pick.

This is what I’m talking about. You’re so adamant about defending what this organization did that you didn’t even comprehend what the original post was about.

It comes down to this:

Would you rather do what we did - sign THJ, play the vets over the kids, end up with Knox?

OR

Have cap space, focus on the kids, end up with Doncic?

I think we know the answer.
