KD is ONE player, and just had a massive injury, and is out for the year (and may have gone elsewhere in any scenario). The Knicks made the same call that a lot of other teams would have made and backed off. Would you rather have had the Knicks pursue Jimmy Butler and whoever? I think what Perry is doing is trying to build something so these conversations no longer need to be had. I'll take decades of success starting in a couple of years over a risk of maxing out on Kyrie and a possible ghost of Durant. If KD had signed in LA most of these conversations wouldn't even happen.
I already mentioned in some of my previous posts that I didn't want KD after he suffered his injury. I also think Kyrie is a ticking time bomb. I just think it's ironic how we put down their fan base and lack of fans and media attention, when our franchise has been a laughing stock for the past 18 years(minus the season we won 54 games). All that stuff is pretty trivial.
Their situation is far from perfect, but it's a lot better than ours. This team needs to show signs of improvement this season. No more tanking, we need to be trending upwards. Until I see that, I'm going to continue being skeptical of management.
I think we are right there though as far as moving in the right direction. This season should be fun, and if RJ pans out and Mitch continues on his path we'll have more to brag about very soon.
Again, we need results this upcoming season. I'm willing to wait it out, if we're trending in the right direction. No more more tanking. We need to start building a winning culture in spite of Dolan.
