Noah, who did not want to speak ill of anyone, replied, "He was the GM. ... He was the GM.
"What do you want me to do, talk (crap) about him? That's not my style. I understand that Steve Mills is somebody who always wanted to position himself ... and I wish him the best."
it's a snake move to say it, but that was always obviously a phil signing.
I am sure it was Phil that pushed Noah, but doubt he was negotiating the contract. There had to be a better deal we could have had Noah for.

Re: WOJ: Knicks president [Mills] angling for David Fizdale firing
Mills would have not been held responsible if not for the ultimate hype machine going into the summer and then the abject failure this season has been.
Thank you to anyone and everyone in the media who believed the hype and acted like it was a done deal, spun it as a W even when they failed, and went into this year thinking they did a good job in FA and were going to be good this year.
You guys are the real heroes.
Thanks again.

the coach always gets fired first, that's the natural order of things. this is mirroring phil's time. fiz is fish, the young coach in over his head. whether they get to hire a new coach eventually or only to promote someone currently here will be telling to how secure dolan is with the front office. if mike miller or keith smart coaches this year and next, they're already fired too. because he doesn't want to pay another coach the new gm might not want.

p.s. so is mills because no coach can fix this and the blame will eventually shift to him
He kinda played himself deciding to become the President, he's not in the shadow anymore, the fault will eventually fall upon him. Those others 10 people who have worked there since the 90s will not leave, but it's a step in the right direction

I wonder how much film Fiz is going to claim he watched to get over this one.

and like Fish, Fiz probably won't be a HC in the league after this.

Re: WOJ: Knicks president [Mills] angling for David Fizdale firing
Might be one reason why Mills has sticked around so long.
https://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/20/sports/basketball/20msg.html
Mills spent most of the day on the witness stand, testifying for the defense in Browne Sanders’s sexual harassment lawsuit against Isiah Thomas, the Knicks’ coach and president for basketball operations.
James L. Dolan, the chairman of Madison Square Garden, is accused in the suit of firing her in retaliation for her claims against Thomas.
Mills, the president of MSG Sports, testified that despite giving her outstanding reviews of her performance — and raising her salary to $250,000 in 2005 — he had become increasingly critical of Browne Sanders’s actions. He called it “not normal” for her to ask Thomas to sign by hand 4,500 letters to season-ticket holders.

He blamed her for failing to adequately inform the facilities group at the Garden that she was promoting an open practice at the Garden, which brought more fans to the free event than security could handle.
Mills rebuked her for soliciting the Mohegan Sun to sponsor a Knicks alumni fantasy camp when the Garden already had a $1.5 million sponsorship with Foxwoods, a competing Connecticut resort and casino.

i wonder what his reaction will be with him on the hot seat ? if it was me and i felt thrown under the bus, i would be playing who i really thought would help no matter what i was told and bench whoever i didn't. fiz has a lot of good will around the league, people like him, he doesn't need to play the good soldier to maintain his employability in the nba. i wonder if he'll go out swinging ? or is he even aware of what the problems with the roster are ?
