As much as I like Lavine, in the right situation, I think Chicago should have explored that. They could have tanked the rest of the year, got the PG they desperately need and could do a quick patch rebuild with like Mannion, Harris, Beasley Markannen, and Carter in tow. I also understand waiting until the summer however for more offers. That seems like pretty decent value though even without a pick.

I feel like New Orleans could get something better for Holiday though for sure.

They can trade him but not for that package. In the NBA you can't take three dimes for a quarter. Harris needs to show his 2018 form to be a piece in such a trade.

Denver would have been an interesting trade partner at the deadline:

Beasley
Hernangomez
Harris
Grant
Morris

I know Ingram has been mentioned somewhat so here’s a solid debate topic

i should take simmons but i would probably swing for the fences and take ingram. he's the guy i feel has the best chance to be mvp level. he's also the most likely to make me look stupid for taking him first. but f*ck it.

I still have nightmares of rejecting the reported Porzingis to Celtics deal of Jaylen Brown, Jae Crowder, and the #3 pick which became Tatum

Simmons and Tatum are all stars in winning teams but Ingram is not further behind. I'd take Simmons first (and probably make me look stupid by missing tons of free throws and not developing a jumper before his 30th birthday). Than Ingram (he shoots the lights out this year).

In case of a early playoff exit for Philly, do we have enough assets for Simmons?
Do we have any chance on Ingram as RFA? What would it take to Pels not to match (or s&t)?

If it makes you feel better, probably we would have selected Josh Jackson with that #3, (or trade up with #3 and Jaylen for Lonzo)

Riding with Tatum at #1 cause he’s an elite defender and is gonna be a top tier scorer soon.

Then Ingram and Simmons. When Simmons gets a jumper I’ll bump him up

Simmons

Simmons can get rendered useless when things get tight in the playoffs while I can see Ingram and Tatum being able to create for themselves and for others.

Ingram gets the edge over Tatum for his versatility in being able to play from 1-4. His wingspan also helps.

Tatum is a stud; i wish he was a Knick

remember when Calipari compared Knox to Tatum, it was a joke then and it's even funnier now

At the same time, LaVine is just not a winning player and killing Markennan's value. Garry Harris at least has shown the ability to play well with a jump shooting big man. I would've explored it as well.

bring back van gundy. its a smart move. it'll endear you to most of the fanbase right away.

i think a move should be made for chris paul too. randle, dsj or frank and the la pick i think is a fair offer.
cp3 is the kinda of guy who can stabilize your franchise. you can call him a loser or chit on him for not having won anything but the dude understands the game. whatever "it" is, he has it. there's a pretty realistic chance that okc gets home court in the first round.

i know its a crazy contract but a) you're not gonna find a better player to sign with you this summer or next(giannis isn't coming. stop it, get some help.) and its only two years. take a point guard in the top 10 this year and let cp3 school him. 2 years of cp3 at this point in his career could do a helluva lot for the culture here. let him play alongside the young guys. maybe he can elevate rj like he elevated gilgeous-alexander. rj seems like a hard worker and a sponge.

yea, i think it's a great idea. flame away.
