I hope he is in charge of the scouting department. He has a pretty good track record

Sounds like he's going to be Aller right hand man after Perry gets the boot next year. Always good to hire guys from well run organizations. Now we just need an analytic guy to be brought in to go with the head scout and cap guy. Maybe I was too quick to judge Rose on not benching the vets during the season. It's been a while since we've really hired anyone with proven track records and Rose has done just that. Now let's nail the draft pick.

We need to beef up our analytics staff. Hopefully Rose recognizes this. It's a gaping hole in the organization.

This will not happen.

The Knicks remain the most anti-analytics organization in the NBA and that’s not going to change with the Leon Rose hire, the Knicks keeping Scott Perry around for no apparent reason and all the noise surrounding the potential candidates for the HC job.

Dolan refuses to hire analytics people, and only chooses to hire decision-makers who refuse to embrace analytics. This will not change anytime soon. We’re always playing catch-up, which is why we’ll never win another championship.

This franchise lives in the past.

How's that working out for them?

I'll stay on the trumpet. They finally started valuing the draft. They'll come around on this one...

Does he have Perry's long history of success with the Magic and the Kings?

Cautiously optimistic on this - Walt seems like a sensible decision maker and also reflects well on Leon and his choice of sensible people performing roles.

I can’t help but recall the last time we hired a Jazz front office guy and ended up with Layden, but let’s not go there.

Damn I thought we were going to poach some scrub from the GarPax team and have to deal with some fans defending the hires by saying "the Bulls don't trade picks."

Jazz have done an awesome job drafting. I feel like this hire could be good.

Knicks consistently hiring qualified black front office personnel (minus Mills) never goes unnoticed

The Knicks can make all the front office moves they want. They can hire the best staff, trainers, coaches, etc but as long as that rich, greedy, Trump supporting doofus is still signing all the checks at the Worlds Most Famous Arena— none of this matters. He’ll overrule and muck up any goodwill in this organization.

It’s been 20 years of the same punchline and yet Knick fans, including several on here, eat it up. How many Hall of Fame coaches or great GMs have come here? And how many have overcome the Dolan disease? 0 that’s how many. Let me know 3 years from now when he’s the GM and this guy is fired because Dolan made him trade for John Wall after his 5th knee surgery.

The Jazz pretty much a home grown team down to their coach. I’m liking this move more and more.

Sounds like we got a great guy to add to our team. I am just curious though. I thought hires like these were only done during the offseason.

I mean, we picked a guy from another team while he still was working with them. And we don't have to give the Jazz any compensation?

It's interesting how the Jazz have completely traded out of this draft, I wonder if this is a sign of how Perrin really feels about the prospects.

Let me see what they come up with regarding hiring a coach and using our 3 draft picks.

Yeah I dont Perrin had much say there. If he's the guy that leads the the POBO, GM, and assistant GM probably have more say on trades. They brought in Mike Conley because they thought he was the missing piece to Gobert/Mitchell tandem. That obviously didn't work out the way the Jazz would have hoped.
