Not to mention all of the success those teams had and the suffering the Knicks franchise endured simultaneously, largely because of that trade.
I'll always find great joy in watching the Knicks beat the Bulls, and will relish the moment when the Knicks take a higher seed this season, and possibly a playoff series win over Chicago in the spring.
That being said, Rose was always my favorite non-Knick as a Bull, always respected those gritty teams and still rooted for them over LeBron and Celtics, and the fans on that board are generally pretty smart and respectable people. So good luck, fellas (and ladies, if there are any Chi-town Greenies lurking). May the best team win tomorrow night.
Damn I didn’t even think that was possible, props to you

It's a true story.
I grew up a Yankees fan. Rooted for the Knicks in the 99 finals, but didn't care much about basketball until Iverson's MVP season. All of a sudden I was hooked. I tried out for the basketball team in HS, and eventually made the JV squad and was lucky enough to get the number 3. I wore Iversons on my feet and tried to model my game after him (to no avail). All I knew was that AI was the man, and that basketball was my now my favorite game. I found myself hating the Lakers for being so predictably dominant, and was geeked when they finally lost to the Pistons.
My grandma died of colon cancer towards the end of my senior year in HS in 2004. My sister was great friends with Greg Gianotti (now co-host of Boomer and Gio on WFAN). He was a huge Knicks fan, and the Knicks had just made the playoffs for the first time since 2001. He heard the news of my grandma's passing and that I was torn up about it, and invited me to game 3 against the Nets at the Garden with him and his 2 buddies. Awesome experience. My first taste of the Garden, and despite the loss, it was a close game, the crowd was absolutely bananas (wife beater chants for Kidd) and I started to understand the magic of MSG.
Fast forward to 2006. I had just dropped out of college the year before after barely completing a semester and was home on Long Island, bored out of my mind, trying to figure out what to do with my life. All of my best friends were upstate or out of state in school, but there were 2 guys I had chilled with the summer after my senior year in HS who were still in town, and who I had a good time with whenever we got together. They were sort of inseparable. I decided I needed to make new friends, and I remember hitting one of them up on AIM to see if they wanted to let me tag along some time.
He told me to come through that night... they were watching the Knicks game. Didn't think much of it, but was down to watch the game. I had followed the Knicks loosely at that point in time. I remember wanting the Knicks to be good, being excited about Ariza, excited about the Curry trade, excited about the Larry Brown hire, hoping the Knicks could become a contender again now that I was into basketball, but didn't consider myself a fan, and didn't actually care one way or another.
This was the game. Ridiculous play to end the 4th where Crawford coughs it up, then gets it right back and nails a 3 to seal it. Watching it with a couple of guys who were big fans and who knew a lot more about the team than I did was a blast. We were all screaming our heads off with the way that game ended. Such a great call from Gus Johnson. I was f'ng sold. I didn't care that they sucked. I knew one day they would be good again, and that nothing could top the excitement of the Knicks winning a championship in the modern era. So I stuck around and watched the team almost religiously with those guys that season.
Truth be told- those were some fun teams back then. Nate, Frye and especially Lee were something to look forward to every night. I was always convincing myself that Zeke had a master plan that would eventually pay off. The Garden was always unmatched. The Knicks colors were and still are second to none. And it was the home team after all. They quickly became the biggest underdog in sports. I had every reason to root for these guys, despite never truly experiencing the glory of 90s Knicks basketball.
And here we are... 15 god damn years later. I'm still friends with those guys, although they live in different parts of the country now. They're still Knicks fans. We're still holding out hope we'll see them win a title before the world ends. And things are finally starting to look up lol.

So the Bulls are playing like the 2011 Heat
The Knicks are actually trying to play like the 2014 Spurs

Technically his stint is still ongoing, we are paying him $6,431,666 this season
