This team is not tanking and if it wasn’t for the stepien rule I think they would trade their own 2023 pick.

Last year was a perfect opportunity to tank and they did the opposite, and now brag about it in press releases.

Here we go the start of hyping up prospects for a year straight only for the Knicks to trade the pick at the draft

I don't think they have to be great. The Hawks first rounders for Murray certainly weren't.

Drafting is not yet an exact science; Many teams do screw up with their selections as well but Knicks take center stage bec its NY

I'm not sure what the stats are but we've had a lot of bites at the lotto apple and seems like most have been busts. RJ, Porzingis and hopefully Obi aside.

Feels like that for the Magic too

The Knox one is unforgivable because we knew he had motor questions (how does a 19 year old have issues with work ethic?) and inconsistency. We had a "players" coach who was supposed to be good at working with players and developing them. and still couldn't develop him, complete bust-- couldn't even be developed into a back of rotation player, **** sad.

the next 3 drafted players- bridges x2, SGA. simply unforgivable.

What was apparent in my eyes is that Knicks would normally choose guys with great measurables but very basic bball talent and at times, raw -- which is bad when you consider that the knicks are not good at developing rooks.

Somewhat but still a lot of misses that seemed like misses at the time. Sweetney felt like that, Jordan Hill felt like that

We have up to 4 firsts this year

Ours, Dallas', Detroit's, and Washington's

Dallas is protected top 10, Washington is protected lottery, and Detroit is protected top 18

So, best case scenario, we have our pick plus 11, 15, and 19. I doubt Detroit conveys to us this year, but it scales down after 2024 so it's only top 9 protected by 2027. I think there's a good chance it conveys by then, so it's fine that we don't get it this year, plus we wouldn't keep 4 firsts anyways. Dallas should convey (hopefully they're end of the lotto), and Washington might, they're really trying to make the play-in

Our 2nd is going to Minnesota

Now that it's been a week, I'm less mad than I was about the trade when it happened. I think, depending on where the actual picks end up (we also have Milwaukee's 2025 1st which is in essence top 4 protected but it'll likely be mid-20s at best), that's not terrible for essentially 11, 4 seconds, and dumping 30 mil of expirings. If the picks are all in the mid-20s, then it becomes much less of a good deal, and if it turns out we need to dump Brunson because he's underperforming, that also would make it worse

I don't love it, but I don't hate it any more. Now, with that being said, I also fully expect us to trade all those picks away at some point, so it'll probably be a moot point.

That's why I wanted Mikal Bridges that year. He was the more proven player but didn't seem to have the ceiling the other prospects did.

I wanted Miles. Given what has happened with him that would have been the most Knicks thing that could have happened. Would have gotten a budding star only to get banned from the league in his contract year.
