Yeah, it's either Garland or Sexton that is the catalyst of interst.

I just don't get it. All the recent great teams had at least one defensive guard in their front 5 and backcourt size. Hell, even the BAF Spurs did it with Bridges next to Curry. What do the Cavs do against Middleton/Holiday or Smart/Brown other than get cooked?

can sexton have that much value especially when you have to pay him?

If they wanted Sexton that bad they would probably already have him. Kinda tells us there arent many other good offers if we only have to beat an offer of Sexton

Seriously. And what are they doing? Unless Garland is part of the package I see the same problem there with Garland/Mitchell or Garland/Sexton as here. Two smaller guards. Though Garland is better off ball than Brunson.

i'd be okay letting smart go 1 on 1 against mitchell. it's probably worse offense than giving tatum or brown the rock and letting them do their thing

I wouldn't think so. If the Cavs are offering Garland then it actually makes more sense. Cavs just value Mitchell more than Garland and go from there. They'd still need that defensive 2nd guard imo.

Can't lie, I think there's something to that. I think the main thing is that people often see defense as a function of will, hunger and effort. It's also something that plays out in other sports franchises in NYC too.

We are building the Utah Magic

We already have the Magic part down as currently constructed.

Utah? Well, they had more playoff appearances in the last 6 years than the Knicks franchise in the last 21 years. So at least they're an upgrade.

Even the Magic have more playoff appearances then the Knicks.

Jazz were a decent team, but fell short. The Melo Knicks were ok, but also pretty mediocre in general. True, better then most Knicks teams but ultimately I want to see us at least attempt to build a real contender and not aim for mediocrity. Maybe thats asking for too much.

we have to get rid of both rj and julius for the brunson/mitchell backcourt to work. so don't worry
That's just a poor man's Dame & CJ. Mitch would have to do the lord's work every night. No thank you

The Knicks had a window for championship contention but they botched the execution in crunch time.

The 2012-13 Knicks laid the foundation - it just took the Knicks a couple of yours to build some depth after the trade. The Knicks trade for Lowry instead of Bargnani and we could be having a completely different conversation today.

That was one of the main concerns with a guy like Holmgren right? Whether he can be durable enough to have a long career in the NBA. Wasn't the talent. No doubt about the talent. But talent means nothing if you can't handle the physical requirements of playing in the NBA. Porzingis was the same way and had the same concerns and he's on what? Strike 2?

One of my concerns is his mobility once he will put on some weight.

I don't think KP lost his mobility strictly because of his injury. The weight gain - which was necessary for him to play his best position i.e. the 5 - definitely affected his speed too.

Anyway, sucks for Holmgren. He's a talent. You hate to see careers altered by injuries.

it is asking too much, the org has no patience to rebuild properly. that ship sailed when we signed randle, got into deeper waters when we signed fournier, and is now completely lost after we signed brunson
