He stood on a soap box and disrespected our team. That's all that matters. I called myself out for being wrong when better audio was revealed. It doesn't change the fact that an opponent talked shyt to my team and went in on his friends father like it was ok. It isn't rocket science. I don't support opposing teams players. Ever.

Ok but can you explain to me how he went in on his friend's father? I assumed his initial comments about not being able to finish after finishing at the rim were directed to Thibs which I don't see as disrespectful. Do you think the "that's what happens when they let you run the team" was directed to Rick? What do you think that means and why is it so offensive in your mind?

Are you just basing your reaction off of Rick's reaction or do you know something I don't? I'm truly curious since I see many accusations being thrown around but no one has been able to explain what actually happened. I feel like there has been new audio released that I missed or something.

I'm basing my reaction on the fact that he was barking like a poodle at our team. I don't care about anything else at this point. He was running his mouth for all to hear. He is acting like a scorned ex. He was talking to Thibs then he was talking to someone else on our bench. Why people think any of that is acceptable on his part is beyond me. He's the enemy now. He gladly accepted that role with his actions. You can be his friend if you want. I don't like anyone who is on the other team. OAKAAK does not matter to me. He was a big mouth and now he is big douche.

How did he go in on his friends father? Did you not see him being pushed away from the altercation? That's all I needed to see. He wasn't respectful to Rick in that exchange. If he just STFU and walked away maybe it would matter to some but, he didn't. He kept chirping.

Again. For the last time. I hate everyone in the NBA who doesn't play for the Knicks. He doesn't play here anymore. He is now the enemy. It's not that complicated. Fuq him. Fuq Randle. Fuq RJ. Fuq IQ. TRIPLE FUQ SHART! Fuq Charlie Brown Jr too!

No one gets a pass.

Yes, look at evil Donte seeking out a confrontation with his friend's father at the end of the game and then pointing his finger in his face and pushing through crowd trying to get closer to him while he angrily scowls and not walking away. So disrespectful.

Image

Anyway I just wanted some context to why Rick reacted the way he did possibly because of a few words at the free throw line. Since those words have been used before in reference to Rick I can see why he may have been so upset. I don't know. It's just more speculation.

I just haven't reached the level of fandom to be upset simply because an assistant coach or a player's father is upset. "He can't finish" and "That's what happens when they let you run the show" have not become the new "S*k M* D**" in my world yet. :D

Edit - I finally found the possible "Let daddy be in charge" comment..... uffff. Things make a little bit more sense now. :D

I feel that Divo will continue developing into a really amazing player, very probably an all-star, possibly even someone as good as Klay.
But this is because my emotional hurt over losing him is still fresh, so my imagination goes wild.
Things will settle down over the season. Emotions will settle down. Maybe KAT will be so deadeye from 3 that it would make us forget how valuable Divo's shooting was for us. But Divo's intensity and Nova chemistry will be missed regardless.
You often have to give up something of value to get something of value. We have bet the farm on winning a chip by bringing in a superstar, and Divo has been that farm. Getting him back in the future will not be easy, if he continues playing like he did for us, his next contract is going to be huge.
KAT, fairly or not, is regarded as a superstar in the league. Randle, fairly or not, never quite reached such a status, all-NBA teams notwithstanding. I can easily understand if Minny actually saw Divo, not Randle, as the real centerpiece of the trade for them.
But, regardless of my reservations about that trade, it would be stupid to deny that the Knicks now have a really amazing team, and I believe that we will all end up loving KAT.

There will be plenty of other "Divos" at the end of Divo's contract. He's nice but not that special.

Cmon Bills, who else does what he did in public after being traded.

How many players have been on 5 teams by age 27 ? How many players got traded right when they thought they were about to play with 3 of the college best friends?

I think this is overblown. Of course DDV is going to be upset here. No reason for him to just take it on the chin here.

As some folks know I'm biased towards Donte because technically for me he's a "local" guy who I've watched play since he was a HS freshman cooking dudes. That's always gonna be my guy. So when I saw folks getting mad at him, initially I was like

But then I had to remember the way I view him is different from other Knick fans. So I get it if people are upset at him for blowing up like that. He was wrong to lash out. Period. That was unprofessional and again, beefing in public with your friends Dad is awful and put JB in a horrible spot as a son and a friend.

But I understand why he is emotional about it. The trade came out of nowhere and it probably hurt like hell, which is why I expressed that there's a human being involved here and sometimes emotional pain comes out in ways that can be toxic. He has to do better

Vibes is important when building a team, and chemistry. My one concern is that we lost that

Of course you took it differently than the other Knicks fans

You just one of few who happened to jump on the Knicks bandwagon for time being ,after being Nets fan for quarter of the century

It’s well documented that bandwagon fans doesn’t take things in the same perspective as a said team Lifers or Hardcore fans , and it’s ok

Divo was upset and he clearly hold the grudges still , it’s fresh , but Minnesota got a good one , he will be alright

We had four or five different teams last season,

Brunson/IQ/RJ/Randle/Mitch
Brunson/DDV/OG/Randle/Shart
Brunson/DDV/Hart/Precious/Shart
Brunson/DDV/Hart/OG/Mitch
Whoever was left standing against the Pacers.

I don't think they will have too much difficulty establishing chemistry. They did it with several different lineups and made it a game away from the ECF. The 2 seed in the East. Pretty amazing honestly.

Leave me alone bro I haven't posted or interacted with anyone on the Nets board aside from Rich for two and a half years now. I couldn't even tell you who is on the Nets roster right now.

Let me go. I have nothing against any Nets fans and I dunno why some of you keep harassing me. I don't want anything to do with that team ever again. Christ

I like the team we have. I also like the youth/role players we have. With Kolek & Huk & Dadiet, we might be a deep team again pretty darn soon.

I'd take Donte back here in a second. I-Hart too. Playing time is a factor. Too many players doesn't work, but Donte is a free agent in 2027. I'd offer him the MLE in a heartbeat if we have it and if he'd take it, though he might get more than that. I'm also curious what he thinks of NY management right now, though I'm sure if the contract was fair, he'd be back here in a minute.

Kat has a player option, he could opt out. Bridges is a free agent the year before as is Mitch who might be a trade candidate. 2027 is too far away to start counting numbers, though KAT's decision will be the big one that off-season.

I-NoHart killed that vibe for me. Take a discount for the Clippers, but won't take the most the Knicks can offer you to stay with your "brothers"? Pssst. In KAT's defense, though, my understanding from reading a lot of Minny reporters is that his personality will fit in perfectly with NY. I do see it and agree with it. I'm still not a fan of the trade, but it is what it is.

With that said, I would welcome Divo back with open arms.

Gonna be completely honest here. I didn't know you were actually a Knick fan now. I thought you were just here because the Net forum was just too dead.

I also remember not liking you at first because you trolled us after the Nets got KD + Irving lol

If I may ask, why did you stop being a Net fan?
