I'll repeat what I've been saying all season:

Thibs ain't it
KAT at the 5 aint it
Hart at the 4 aint it
We're not winning this season

That being said... we'll get better over time. Thibs will get his last chance this playoffs before he'll be asked to retire. We'll go as far as the 2nd round and maybe ECF. It will become obvious by the off-season that we need more tweaks and a younger voice in the locker room. Dan Hurley is the guy. Book it.

I'm not worried. An oft injured big man with a history of foot issues will be back any day, I mean week, I mean month, I mean, not sure, to save the season.

KAT at the 5 doesn't work with Thibs on defense but, the offense is great even if Thibs sucks on that end of the floor. Thibs is the problem there. We need more tweaks now because Thibs is stubborn and Mitch is an injured player who will probably remain that way his entire career.

I would love to have a rim protector who has a little more range/offensive skills than Mitch. That way we could switch up on offense and defense. KAT at the 4 next to that or we play 5 out.

Hart at the 4 is foolishness.

If Thibs doesn't get to the ECF then he should be fired. There is enough talent here if everyone is healthy.

I really hope Leon has another "miracle" trade left to pull off. It would change everyone's mood around here. There is plenty of season to go. Maybe we get healthy and improve and Mitch comes back strong like bull!

The team is underperforming and the coaching staff should be on notice if there no improvement.

With an offensive genious coach like Tuomas Iisalo this team would have every chance to win the title. The talent is there to do it!

If it doesn't work on defense then who cares about the offense because we won't get very far against true contenders without defense. You saw the HOU vs OKC game last night. We're so far below those two teams defensively, it's a pretty shocking difference.

I think Mitch returns around Jan 21st or so and definitely helps. There's always a chance someone else goes down in the meantime because that's how things have been going in the NBA these days. I also think we do make a trade by the deadline to help with defense, rebounding, and grit. I don't know who they'll get but they've been very good in the past with in-season upgrades.

KAT at the 5 does work on both ends but, not with THIBS because he is a dumb ass.

The roster is a top heavy roster that does not feature elite talent. The team is on pace to win 50+ games because the coach plays his top guys an extra 3-5 minutes per night. Anyone who thought this team was a contender was fooling themselves. This is what happens when you pay a Giannis price and end up with Mikal Bridges.

And the scary part is, once the coach grinds these guys down, we are looking at 7 more summers without control of our draft picks.

I think other posters brought up some great points - can you build a true contender when your top-2 players are subpar defenders? I think you could also add can you build a contender when your top-2 players are a fringe top-10 and fringe top-20 player.

It's all a shame because if you made the Towns trade and not the Bridges trade the entire vibe is just different. There is time to let Brunson/Towns gel and build a roster around them. This core wasn't worthy of going all in last summer. But call a spade a spade, Dolan got his press conference and Leon and Thibs got their contract extension. They won't be here when 2nd rd playoff exits turn into lottery picks going out the door. We have seen this movie too many times before on 33rd Street and 7th Ave

I truly believe that the Bridges trade, and the ripple effects of the trade, will go down as one of the worst trades in NBA history when we look back at it after the last pick conveys in 2031.

This season reminds me of 99. Remember how Spree couldn't play with Ewing and Camby didn't move the needle that much. Then the playoffs happened. Best year we've had in the last . . 25 years.

I'm not saying they'll repeat 99, but it's way too soon to worry. They have things to figure out for sure. Home court in the playoffs is overrated, just get in and have those 7 game series and try to win. One series at a time. Yes it's not a well balanced team. The Cavs weren't well balanced last year, now they have a new coach and it looks like he's figured things out.

The Celtics are really good, but if we get healthy, I think we have a shot. Give it time. Brunson's a really smart player. Kat is incredible. Get Mitch back and see how things look. Mitch gives us a very different lineup and more options.
