props to thibs for the kolek-shamet-og-precious-kat lineup. it's like he realized playing hart and precious wasn't ideal... but then he did it later in the game so yea. precious minutes should exclusively be when he's the only non spacer. ideally same for hart.

Precious was scoring like Charles Barkley in that 2nd quarter

Would prefer if he stayed home and guards the 3.

I agree with this one. Josh can be a pretty good defender if he is fully locked in. While he has made clutch rebounds for us, a considerable number of rebounds I saw from Josh was him snatching it away from KAT and our other bigs. Meaning he did not need to be there.

OG has bought into driving to the rim.

He's a load so it is often enough for him to lower his shoulder on the way in.

Since he doesn't always have great lift he gets stopped on occasion, but it is worth it for him to keep plowing into the lane like a pissed off bull. He's getting lots of easy buckets now.

Kolek is exactly what I was expecting, a serviceable guard in the rotation that offers a change of pace to a team that sorely needs to speed it up at times. He's not going to play in the playoffs, he's too green and isn't a scoring threat yet, but he's shown more than enough in his minutes to warrant a place in the rotation.

realized i wrote hart and kat. i meant hart and precious. goal should always be to only have 1 non spacer on the court.

hart + kat works
precious + kat works
4 shooters + mitch works etc

With him and Camara, plus young guards Simons, Sharpe and Scoot, plus Ayton, Grant and R Williams, and a lottery pick, can they turn into a playoff team next year?

Probably need a trade somewhere in there.

They need to ditch Simons, he's the worst type of combo guard, PG sized but doesn't distribute like one, doesn't have the size to get to the rim consistently and can't defend.

When did OG discover he had a Mikal middy in his bag? Maybe there was a hidden zipper pocket he didn't know was there but when he found it and opened it up out it popped...

Glad to get the win. Missed the first half traveling but, enjoyed the hell out of that second half. Yankees had another slam fest game. It's a good day.

I thought he began to show it last season before he got hurt. The silver lining behind Brunson’s injury is that the supporting cast has gained a lot of confidence and chemistry.

Portland did a lot of good things and the way we refocused says a lot.

The inspired play from Mikal & OG gives us some hope come the post season. Over to you Thibs

The improved play by Bridges and OG is definitely a silver linining on this season---this AGAIN shows what many have been constantly alluding to: it is more a thing of coaching and game management than lack of skills. In an ideal world the team is coached in a way that keeps Mikal and OG engaged most of the time. It is possible, we are seeing it.

I actually thought Hart played poorly for most of the game until late in the second half. Gave up open 3 pointers while unneccesarily sagging. Teams leave him completely wide open....if he does not find a way to fix his shot to being respectable it will be a major impediment.

Not trying to make every post about Thibs but again: Wright was a non factor up until late second half. This is an honest question --> Did you guys see anything that warranted Wright playing 34 minutes and Kolek only 14minutes? The offense runs much more smoothly with Kolek out there. And to my surprise, Kolek actually holds his own really well on defense. He is no pushover. I think in all the recent games he could have played 25minutes easily. The offense with Wright was stalling and the reason the team turned it around was mostly individual play by OG and Mikal.

Final question: Has the team given up on the idea of playing Mitch/KAT together? I thought that was the original plan but we have almost not seen it at all. I still firmly believe Hart would be much much better suited off the bench. His play overall screams 6th man/energy guy doing a bit of everything. With us pretty much locked into the 3rd seed I find it again baffling we aren't trying out different looks. We gave up a lot of offensive rebounds...it would have been interesting to see a Kolek-Bridges-OG-KAT-Mitch line-up out there for a couple mins.

It was a good win overall but against a better team you could see the opposition running away with the score in the third quarter. But good effort.

Really not understandable at all. I thought Wright was a complete non-factor until late. Made the game slow, needed a lot of time to even bring the ball up and dump it off. Had one play where he used like half the shot clock to drop it off to Mikal. Guys made some arguments with politics as to why Payne plays more minutes etc. but with Wright being a 32-year old late season signing that really goes completely out of the window. It is reationally not explainable why Wright can get 30+ minutes but Kolek struggles to get to 20 minutes with JB, Payne and Deuce out. I also don't think it can be explained in terms of being an offensive threat---Wright has averaged 6.5 points in 20minutes over his career. Kolek runs the offense so much more smoothly.

This was a good opportunity to play Kolek-Shamet (Wright)-Bridges-OG-Mitch line-up.

One comment regarding Camara---dude was taken 52nd in 2023 by Phoenix. Has turned into a super solid player already. Great defender, can knock down the 3. If you wanted to trade for him (Blazers obviously not giving him up) he would likely cost 3 FRPs already.

This is how you do it. Draft and give the guy some PT and confidence. Obviously we can't say whether Pacome has some similar ability, but with Thibs we likely are not going to find out regardles......this team desperately needs a coach willing to develop and play rookies....Thibs has become such an impediment at this point.

Why’d pac play like 40 seconds?

Also OG gotta figure out a way to not have his legs swinging crazy under the basket on every fast break dunk. Remember he had a nasty fall a few months ago like that. His body is not the one to be limit testing.
