I find it funny how nobody on here thinks this team can actually get themselves to another level. So many examples especially in nba history where regular season records even head to head mean nothing.

JVG quit on the Knicks mid-season 01-02

Thibs stayed as an assistant with Don Chaney for the rest of that season AND the following season 02-03

Thibs was an assistant coach for the Knicks for 7 years

Instead of calling him up to offer him a head coaching opportunity, we targeted high profile names for the next 7 years (Lenny Wilkins, Larry Brown, Mike D'Antoni).

During this time, he becomes the most prominent assistant coach in the league. 4 years of the Yao Ming Rockets era (3 of them with Tmac). Then 3 years of the Celtics era (1 ring, 2 finals appearances).

Thibs becomes available to be a head coach, but we're still stuck with D'Antoni in 2010. So Thibs goes to the Bulls and is massively successful for 5 straight seasons.

2015 rolls around, and we are stuck in the middle of the Phil Jackson era. Thibs isn't gonna be a lackey for Phil, so Thibs instead goes to Minny and not only proves to be a more successful coach than any of Phil's picks (Fisher, Rambis, Hornacek), but he was even a more successful executive than Phil.

Only when his time with Minnesota was finally over is when we finally have an opportunity for Thibs to be the head coach of the Knicks.

By then it has been EIGHTEEN YEARS since Thibs was an assistant for the Knicks. So the man had to live and work two whole freaking decades elsewhere, come back at age 63, and somehow find the energy within himself to coach like a 40 year old. Because he has to in order to have the one job he always wanted, and also knowing this is the last run he has left to cement his coaching legacy.

So yeah, I can't wait for him to suprass JVG, because Thibs earned it. He is not far from 70 years of age. Not a whole lot of time left for Thibs to do this at the highest level.

The 3 seed has been locked for weeks, I think they should start sitting more guys especially tomorrow, don’t show the cavs anything, i’d sit OG and KAT for sure

I find it funny how nobody on here thinks this team can actually get themselves to another level. So many examples especially in nba history where regular season records even head to head mean nothing.

I’m all in. The bench is rounding out nicely. I like the addition of Delon Wright (PJ not so much) and the team has developed a nice chemistry along with some confidence without Brunson (and Deuce).

OG has stepped up his game as has Shamet, Delon, and Kolek. I can imagine a scenario where all these parts come together just in time for the playoffs.

OG is unstoppable when he drives. His strong build reminds me of LeBron

He’s started using his strength more to finish better. In the beginning of the season he would always throw up a wild shot when driving when feeling contact rather than finishing through the contact. Has made a huge difference.

His ball handling is also not great but he found a way to limit the amount of dribbles to get to the rack.

I see a lot more intensity from him when he’s involved on offense. Might make sense to give him more attempts when JB is back.

I like Wright's defense. The team seems to get stagnant after a bit with him. Kolek just seems to make everyone hit their shots. The ball moves. It's crazy that he doesn't even look to score and we are always a positive when he's out there basically. I'm less worried about the backup PG moving forward now. We can spend our pennies this off season elsewhere if we want.

I'm pretty curious which way we go. Deuce was one of our most impactful players this year but does he become the odd man out? He can play a little 2. But if we bring Wright back we might have guard covered.

Kolek's defense has been a revelation. He's not Tony Allen out there but he can cover his man, swarm the lanes, and give some pressure, which is a huge plus.

Crazy how things went from "Kolek is unplayable" to "Kolek has an elite AST/TO ratio and can defend" in a matter of what, two weeks?

So now the backcourt rotation at full strength:

Brunson/Kolek
Mikal/Deuce

Not bad at all.

I never bought the myth that the Knicks have the worst bench in the league, so the starters should be playing 47 minutes per game and Thibs had no choice but to run a 5.5 man rotation all season.

The Knicks only had the worst bench in the league because they never got to play, get into a rhythm, and develop chemistry with the team.

Kolek should have been playing a long time ago. If so, Shamet would have probably looked much better a long time ago.

The only way the Knicks get out of the first round is if they face the Bucks. Knicks 4th, Bucks 6th.

Because every other team they could face will beat them in the first round. Pistons? Might sweep them. Hawks? Would beat them.

That’s not the way it works big dawg. Knicks would be 3rd and Bucks 6th. 4th and 5th seed play each other. So let’s stay 3rd

Some good individual stuff here and there, but all in all that game sucked.

Precious is horrific. There's a reason this bum got traded out of Toronto.

I thought we got him on a bargain contract this year. Now I'm glad we didn't lock him up long term. Maybe we can get him for the vet minimum next year.

I'd rather see him off the team for a better player.

Carrying him, Mitch and Hukporti after KAT doesn't make sense. He's an undersized 5. Knicks need to get a legit backup PF.
